Broken equinox arm cuff...

You guys are killing me.....Equinox has a 3 year warranty. They are replacing wobbly shafts presently, no questions asked as long as the owner mails in the old shaft. They will replace the head unit if it leaks, has a battery failure or any other problem-no questions asked. As long as you don't abuse it or wrap it around a tree, Minelab USA will take care of you just like any other reputable manufacturer that warranties merchandise in this country. Metal detectors that get used a lot, no matter how well they are designed (or not) can have accidents or suddenly leak or stop working for no obvious reason. This is nothing new. There were lots of leaking problems with the MX Sport, the AT Series, the newer Fisher F44 and even the really expensive Minelab CTX 3030. They are still excellent detectors. I have not had any problems with either of my Nox detectors and I have used them in the desert at 100F+, at 10,000 feet altitude on mountain sides, in snow, rain, creeks, rivers and just for parks and turf hunting. Use and get to know your Nox and don't worry about it OR fill up your bathtub and dunk it. Then you'll know for sure.

Indeed. Plus, with a gazillion units sold, you're going to hear about the problems even if the defect percentage is the same or lower than other models.

Very true, Jeff. I got an AT Pro in 2011 about 6 months after it came out and there were numerous mechanical issues that got corrected as they were discovered over time.

The difference was when my Garrett arm cuff broke within the warranty period Garrett replaced it. Penny wise and dollar foolish for Minelab not to replace the cuff under warranty.

I was on the verge of getting an EQ-800 w/6" DD coil and give it a fair run in some really tough sites. That's what I did with the XP ORX and its smaller-size coil. But all the flags are going up and waving about EQ issues.

Always should be outfitted with at least one good Tesoro model. Next month makes 22 years I have been enjoying and relying on a Bandido II microMAX and Silver Sabre microMAX with a smaller-size coil. I've often preferred using them to one of the newer, and supposedly better, detectors that are claimed to be "multi-talented."

Update: I went ahead and went the route of using the JB Weld 2 part epoxy. Seems like it’s gonna good pretty strong, so I should be set for now. We’ll see how it goes.

Ive had mine over a year and use it like it was intended and the only problem ive had is the foam pad fell off the arm cuff. I attributed it to the fact that i hunted in the rain quite a bit last winter, and sweat a lot in the summer which weakened the adhesive. I dont think there are as many problems with the EQs some would have you believe. I think the same pool of problems have been shared in multiple public forums and it appears that the problem is worse than it really is. I know several folks with EQs and zero problems.
I'm with you. Have had my 800 since 2 weeks after release. I beat the heck out of my machine and have had zero issues with it. With the huge volume of these machines in the field there are going to be a few that have issues. How does that saying go?? "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" Its not like every single owner that never has a problem is going to report that they have had zero issues. However most that have issues are going to tell a friend or post about it.

I remember all the posts about crappy atpro machines as well. I personally had to send my brand new atpro back and get a new one due to faulty electronics right out of the box.

I would think that if it broke due to neglect, its on you. But then again, what could it cost them to toss you a new one? That kind of customer service can't be bought.

Within 3 days of emailing them I had a new foam pad. I can’t imagine they wouldn’t cover the cuff. Try again, maybe you got an employee on his last day or just a bad day.

I changed out my cuff for a Herke. I have no use for a spare. Private message me your address and you can have my plastic one for free.
Did folks pick that up yet or passed?
If passed I’d happily pay shipping on it to have a spare.

For me, when my cuff broke (due to the airlines), Garrett replaced it for me for free, and it was WAY out of warranty.
