I headed back to the 1790 farmhouse where I found the Nova Constellatio coin a few days ago and started sweeping the area just in front of the main entrance...just across a gravel driveway. I dug a few signals that turned out to be a clock mechanism and some other junk. About a half hour in I rang up a 70s signal on the Max and out pops a nice dandy button with designs. Sweet!!!
In the next half-hour I pulled three more flat buttons from the same area. Just when I figured I got all of the good targets an 80 signal rang up. No matter which way I swung the coil it rang up 80. I’m thinking clad dime when I popped the plug and there staring back at me was another copper!
A little spritz from my water bottle revealed King George II.
I scoured the area for the next hour for more to no avail.
A better cleaning job and a strong side light revealed a 1752 Halfpenny...my oldest coin to date.
I sure do love this hobby!
