I went to Bass Pro to buy a knife. I saw a set of throwing knives and bought them on a whim. I took them home and started throwing them at a tree. They were junk knives and they did not throw well, but it ignited a fire in me. I ordered three different sets of Cold Steel throwers. I watched a few videos on YouTube and discovered no-spin knife throwing. I had no idea you could throw a knife like that, at such a distance. At this point, I am obsessed with knife throwing. After less than 10 days, I am hitting the target at 20 feet throwing no spin. At 59 years old, I can’t believe I’ve lived my whole adult life without trying knife throwing until now. Any knife throwers on here?

My brother and I threw so many knives growing up we killed a 60ft oak tree stickin em in the trunk. Eventually just stopped throwing knives because other hobbies took over.
Now that I manage a landscape company, I like to throw some axe's at the shop. We got a stump set up with some boards. Fun way to relieve stress.

Very interesting.

I was a knife thrower many years ago, and I must admit I was pretty darn good, but I used the spinning technique. The key to success was learning to know the proper spin for the distance. Granted, I could throw a spinning throw from a much further distance, but the no-spin technique looks to have the potential for a much more powerful throw. I will give it a try.

It is a very cool hobby and could also save your life God forbid. I tried it thirty five or forty years ago and just couldn't get the hang of it. But there was no YouTube at that time either. I have thrown a double bit quite a few times though.

What is so appealing to me about no spin throwing is that you do not need to know your distance to the target. It is instinctual. Definitely more powerful than rotational throwing. Except for the half spin. That is an extremely powerful throw, but it only works out to about 12 feet from the target. At 10 feet, it is a missile. It’s also called the military half spin. I guess they teach that in hand to hand combat training. There are some great KnifeThrowing tutorials on YouTube produced by world champion Knife throwers. Lots of insight to give someone a head start. The skill level of these night throwers is amazing. I saw one video of these trick shots that were so crazy I thought it was fake, until I did some research and found out the dude is legit.

years ago I was in Muzzle Loader Club & we shot both knives & tomahawks. A few of us make a path once & we all shot targets with our rifles around the path & at the end an "Indian" target to throw at it. But we had a real Indian in our club so we thought to change it to a Bear

I've been throwing my whole life. We used to have friendly competitions locally. I've thrown knives, screwdrivers, tomahawks, and double-bit axes.
When throwing tomahawks in competition, part of the objective was to split your competitors handles. It was a blast!
