Yea those are everywhere too but i never been bothered by them either, i guess living in the woods you kind of get used to all that and loose you're fear to that kind of stuff, were you at in fl
Ruger Redhawk, 44 magnum, 300 gr solids, never had a problem, drops them like they've been hit by Thor's hammer. HH Steve
Here are a couple monsters the dogs ran out of the swamp. One 350# other pushing 500#. They get big & nasty here in SC.
Nice ones there! Weird but all we ever see are black ones. I may have to mount a gopro to a 44 magnum to get footage though
Just don't miss.
if you have to shoot one, it will be charging you. so ya better hit him in the head, between the eyes if a great place.
A domestic hog in a cage or a pen is one thing. A feral hog with a vendetta is another. My vote would be a 12 gauge shotgun with 5 rounds of 00 buck. That way you can at least try to take off its face while you are shaking like a dog trying to pass a double edge razor blade.
I helped my dad on our farm(1200 acres of bottom land) and have seen lots of wild hogs. The first thing I would do if I ever thought about shooting at one, especially with a handgun, is locate a tree I could climb FAST! A wounded, mad hog will chew off a leg if not worse. The worse thing you ever want to do is mess with a sow with her piglets. Those sows will attack without anything more than seeing you.
Me? I would only shoot one if I had no other choice, unless you are specifically going hog hunting and with a rifle. Keep that tree in sight though.
I beg to differ with that. Between the eyes is where the skull is the thickest and it is a natural ramp to deflect the bullet.
