Any Rush (the band) fans?

YES , I'm a Rush fan . My favorite albums are 2112 , and All the Worlds a Stage .I grew up ( trying ) to play the drums along with Neil . Awesome band . I've seen them twice . The 1st time was with Reo Speedwagon , Rush , and Blue Oyster Cult . Awesome concert . I'll be checking to see if they're going to be in my area .

Never got to see Rush. My hometown is home of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Limp Bizkit. "John Otto! Take 'em to the Matthews bridge!"

Oh I'm definetly a Skynyrd fan as well , It ought to be against the law to be from the south and not be a Skynyrd fan ...I saw the original Skynyrd 6 months or so before the crash . Sad day it was .

Man oh man. I had tickets to the concert they were on their way to when the plane crashed. So sad.

Now as for Rush... have been a fan since the 70's. Played bass and sang Geddy's vocals covering 2112. Bought a flagship Yamaha synth in 2004 and one of my first endeavors was to set up a preset for playing, "Tom Sawyer". Just watched a great documentary on the band on Netflix not long ago. A must see if you're a Rush fan.

By the way, the tragedy at the Who concert in Cinncinnati on Dec 3, 1979 pretty much ended the festival seating (mentioned by Digger27) at big concerts.

Yes, this was not a great idea at large venues.
The Michigan Palace was a much smaller hall, actually very ornate and originally a opera house in Detroit built in 1926.
By the 70's it was a wreck and a fire hazard, but for awhile it was rented out by a promoter who brought in some newer bands that are now legends, and many well established bands every weekend.
It was only about $6 for most tickets, if I remember right, but about half way through its new life as a concert hall my brother had taken a part time job taking tickets at the door so 2 good friends and I never even paid that...we got in for free and went to about 80% of the concerts after that...whether we liked the band playing that night or not.
Some very cool experiences and life long memories were gathered from this place which is now a parking lot.

I can't believe they are in there 60's

I feel old.

I guess I better think about seeing them this year just in case....

Love them, went to a concert a couple years back in Cincinnati for their Snakes and Arrows tour. They can still put on a heck of a show

Remember seeing Bachman Turner Overdrive in concert. He was so old all he did was tap his foot the whole concert. Malcolm from AC DC had to retire. Bass is the easiest to play. We are all getting old who got to enjoy the real music back in the day. I remember seeing Deep Purple a couple times. Ask some young kid if they got any "Deep Purple"

It's very interesting that many times over I have seen comments under classic rock videos on Youtube that are from young teens who lament the fact that they weren't around in the 80's and they don't really like current popular music.

I believe what has opened many young eyes to the classic 70's and 80's rock is the Guitar Hero video game. Foghat, Aerosmith, Peter Frampton, just to name a few who have enjoyed renewed interest from the younger generation.

Add in the fact when you watch some new performer who gets their voice cleaned up in the mixing room. Rosanne Barr isn't the only one who sounds like chit singing the national anthem:lol:

Yeah good old Auto Tune... making stars out of talentless hacks everywhere.

There are a few decent young performers out there, but they are as rare as silver coins at your local pounded parks.

At some point, music went from art, to making lots of money. Think in the 70's and 80's, when vinyl records were being replaced with tape, and people were able to record their own, which started making better sense, since the greedy bastards were charge way too much for crappy albums, with only one or two songs worth playing... Now, it's all about something new. Few years, and forgotten.

Guess that's just the way it goes. My parents hated the music I listen to back then, now it's my turn...

As a child of the 70's, I remember an older kid playing an 8-track in his car radio, and hearing some crazy screeching voice (Lee) and pounding rock and roll...a voice like nothing i'd ever heard before...then I bought "Fly By Night" LP and drove my grandmother nuts - :D

Rush

The song "Working Man" (live version) by Rush has to have one of the best drum solos of all time! One band I didnt see back in the days but wish I did. I did go to Floyd 2x, ZZtop, Deep Purple, Jethro, Stones..etc :neat:

Check your CC perks - special seating for card holders

Gosh, I don't remember which big card company we used, but last years Rush concert was sold out - but my friend had a CC that had seats reserved for only card users - and we got tickets!
