Any Masonic Traveling men? Into MD

My Grandfather was a 33rd and went through Scottish and York rite. Years ago I considered joining, I even had the petition. I couldn't do it. I have so many checks in my gut about it. I don't understand why the image of Baphomet is used in your symbols and why George Washington sits in the same pose as Baphomet in the memorial. I do know my Grandfather was a good man and would give his last breath to help another. The link between Lucifer and the Masons seems strong to me looking from the outside. The ceremony of initiation with the similarity of being dead and then raised and reborn as anew, seems similar to jesus death and resurrection. I am not saying Masons are Satan worshipers, I am saying to consider yourself a brother of someone who considers his "Supreme Being" Lucifer is just wrong.

I respect the Masons and Shriners for what they do for children. I just don't think vowing my life to the unknown is for me. A Mason respects my opinion and I respect the Masons for that.

Baphomet is a made up pagan deity and has no part in Freemasonry. BTW, there isn't any Satan worship either. Think about it for a minute, would your grandfather have been a Mason if any of these nonsensical theories by anti-Masons were true? People have been repeating Leo Taxil's hoax for more than a hundred years now.

they can not ask you to join

I have found a few Masonic things when detecting and have asked a few men that I know about the particular pieces. In doing so, I have been asked if I have ever considered joining. What would be the next step?

next time say yes your interested and would like to join.

I think you are reading the wrong literature, or watching the wrong films. There is nothing at all sinister about Freemasonry.

Where on earth did you pick up all this rubbish about Lucifer ?

A question...I found a wheat penny with the Masons' square and compass stamped on it. Is there any significance to it or is it just someone maybe playing around?

It is basically a souvenir coin. Some lodges have used them as a symbol for teaching or ritual purposes.

Past Master Fort Payne Lodge #437, Fort Payne, Alabama. As already stated in previous posts, YOU have to do the asking to join, the Masons DO NOT solicit for members. There are tons of misinformation and just !!!! out there for everyone to read or watch. There is nothing bad, immoral, or sinister about the Masonic organization. We all strive to be better men and do what we can for our fellow human beings.
I happen to be a Christian and I am very proud of that. I am not perfect nor will I ever be, but I strive to do better in my relationship with God and my fellow man. Aside from being saved and joining a church, joining the Masons was the next best thing I have ever done.
We each have our opinions and decisions to make in life. I believe that we each also have the right to believe in what we choose to. I don't believe in anyone trying to force their beliefs on someone else. I believe in the end we each will be held accountable for our decisions and actions. The choices are yours alone to make. I wish you the best with your decisions.

Well, I was raised to MM last night. What a fantastic ceremony.
Truly amazing.
Congratulations!
Ever keep in mind the road that you're traveling, and you'll have a wonderful life.

My lodge gives stamped pennies to every Entered Apprentice the night that they are initiated.

Great thread here. I have never found anything Masonic in the ground yet but would be excited to.

As for Freemasons, I was curious for years and met with some guys from Commerce Lodge #121 in march/April this year and was Raised on 9/29/12. I was Nominated to be JD for the coming year. :D

Really a great group!!

Congratulations Chris :clapping:

Like everyone else, you'll be saying that you wished you'd done it years ago.

I'm a Steward at the moment, and maybe IG next year.
