Found this yesterday at one of my local beaches that a lot of sand was washed out by the tropical storm left from hurricane Nicole. Came across a target that I thought was going to be a copper penny or dime because it rang up like a 24/25 on my equinox. This beauty has been in the wet sand / water for some time as it was corrded with tarnish and rust. I didn't think it was anything special when I found it in the dark with my headlamp until I got home and saw "925 EC" barely visible stamped inside. Did a little electrolysis with my old phone charger and a little polishing with baking soda and it cleaned up pretty good minus the pitting. Diamonds tested real on my little tester.

Thank you Sir! I definitely believe it was there a long time out of reach of being detected. Our beaches have been wiped pretty thin, I think there will be a lot of beach replenishment before next summer unless Mother nature brings back the sand.

Very cool find, congrats!! I have a question about how you or others test for diamonds or certain types of metals. I found a small "golden" ring that looks quite old based on the scroll work on it. It's not a finger ring but appears to have broken off a broach, necklace or bracelet of some type. It contains six diamond-like stones in six points around the circumference. I'm assuming they are not diamonds, but how can I be sure without ruining this, or any other, piece?

You can get this little inexpensive device that checks diamonds. It can be bought on fleabay and other sites that sell stuff. Is it one hundred accurate I am not sure but it does the job.

That sure cleaned up nicely! I've always thought any gems set in silver are likely 99% sure to besomething fake. Well, as it turned out, I found a couple of silver items and when i used the same tester as you showed in the photos, the stones came up real! I was super shocked..... happy, but mostly shocked!

Anyhow, congrats!!!

Thank you. I am now going to get some polish and try using my dremel tool to clean it up a little more. Yes this is my fourth piece of silver since I started detecting with real diamonds, three rings and a little earring. They are out there for sure.
