After Losing my CTX..Why I'm going back to the Etrac!

Exactly...everyone's brain is wired differently.
Some are even missing a few wires  ........Like the guy who left his CTX at the park

I already got some silver with in the past few days so I'm already on it :)

.

lol You're a great sport... I know how you feel (kinda) about losing something and not being able ot live it down...

My very first Barber dime ever, I found with the ETRAC on my first full hunt with it... then proceeded to lose the dime!

I eventually had to go back the next week with the at pro and etrac, spent 3 hours looking for it with the at pro (thought was it would be on top of ground and smaller coil would "snipe" it at some point... ended up going back to the etrac and found my Barber dime 30 mins later...but I found the dang dime!!!

The guys in chat were hammering me left & right over my dumb azz losing my first Barber dime... the jokes were great but I knew I HAD to go find that dime I lost or they'd never let me hear the end of it!

At least you're able to laugh about it, and at the end of the day, the message is the same for the rest of us...

"Be sure to pack all of your gear in the car, and double check before leaving so you don't forget anything, it CAN HAPPEN to YOU!"

If any good can come of it, at least your warning about forgetting something can remind us all to double check before we leave...

This is a great thread . For anyone considering either machine one of the most interesting and informative posts ever. One thing is for certain . Both are proven killers . I would love to get out and run with you big dogs someday soon.
Seeing who can lift there leg higher is one thing but I just wanna watch you guys work over some dirt. I have had the chance to hunt with a couple guys on here and found myself sitting back a few times and just observing .
It's amaizing how true hunters can pass threw large chunks of time totally entranced and connected to there equipment and mission. Having an idea of what is going on and then watching a good hunters as they work a site as an outside observer is something to see. Your discription of the machines and sounds seems dead on. Watching a Ctx guys and ETrac working both machines I can actualy see the difference in styles. Very informative and discriptive post guys.
Happy hunting , Dew

Very insightful post Dew. Even an experienced hunter like myself sometimes likes to sit back and watch the other guys dig some good stuff. I have learned ALOT over the years from watching others. I have also hunted with guys who just cannot seem to find anything and by looking at their settings and hunting style I can understand why.

Great post... I am an E-trac guy through and through.. yet I want a CTX.. of course I would never give up my e-trac to get one.. so I'll just rid the earth one silver at time with my E-trac ..till I pull the trigger on the CTX

Breaks my heart you lost your CTX.

While most of community is very serious about their favorite detector, the E-Trac folks are so passionate about them that they will cut you if you say something negative.

I've had crappy detectors and I've had bleeding edge/latest greatest. If I've learned anything it's that you have to be comfortable with the detector.

We all know the MXT is a proven machine. And it helped me to find some nice things. But I never really bonded with it. Sold it and bought an AT Pro and my finds went through the roof. Is the the AT Pro really 4-5 times better than the MXT? I do not believe it is. For whatever reason, the AT Pro and I speak the same language.

So I say return to rocking that e-Trac and amass your fortune! If the CTX really spoke to you, you would have run right out and bought a second one.

Good stuff TFH :) So very true.

Like I said earlier, everyones brain is wired differently.

"The Machine that Works for You is the Machine that Works"
Hopefully most will find that one machine without having to spend a ton of
money buying and trying multiple machines.

"Rocking that Etrac"....I like that :D

.

I've watched a ton of videos on the CTX but I've really no desire to upgrade yet. My Etrac is doing it for me and I still feel like I haven't used it to its full potential. I will probably wait to see what minelab comes out with next.. Who knows maybe an Explorer III is around the corner
