Yesterday I hunted 3 hours and recovered 60 targets that were mostly junk except 1 tiny wire ring of silver. (It was so thin it would barely cast a shadow!!

Today was a 4-hour hunt with everything perfect including Mr. Dual Field with 8 new batteries and Diablo ready for tough digging as always.

15 pieces of lead (sinkers and bullets), 14 real pennies, 2 zincolns, some clad, a gold-filled wedding band and cross, a Merc so thin I bent it in my fingers while trying to get the crust off and 1 10K Senior ring (from 1970) rounded out the keepers outa 78 targets recovered.

A very satisfactory hunt says I.

GL&HH Friends,

CJ

PS For those readers prone to count the finds in the pictures, I leave out the larger items such as red bricks and pieces of bricks and chunks of metal I disposed of rather than lug them around. PI machines love red bricks!

The year and the school, nothing else! Please note the date of this post. It is one of many from the past that I thought might interest forum readers.

Thanks for your kind words,

CJ

CJ, I didn’t pay attention to the date. Sorry about that. That said, I just love those old class rings! I hope I find a class ring one day and I’m able to return it to the owner. I lost mine in the 80s and I would be thrilled if somebody found it and gave it back to me.
Thanks for posting your old finds. They are super interesting.

Hi Dan,
I have been living and hunting in a beach area in Connecticut since the early 1980's. When I started I was fortunate to move early into water hunting and virgin territory where there were many goodies just waiting for me. Few people in this hobby have done as well as I have! In those years I have returned 50 various pieces of precious jewelry, mostly rings! Each of those returns was a story worth sharing and when I finally got into Treasure forums (I was a late bloomer in the computer world!) I got a water-proof camera and made lots of posts.
In 2015 or so I dropped way back on hunting due to other commitments and last November first I retired from being a plumber at 81 years of age. I'm still active in that I have a small garden, mow my own yard and have been heating my house mostly with wood. We had a milder winter this past year and I only used 1/2 of a tank of oil which saved us lots of money as I used mostly wood I scrounged up, cut and split myself! I have a hydraulic log splitter and several chain saws and have only had to buy a few cords over the years.
I bought a Manticore detector recently and look forward to learning how to find those deep targets. I broke my first Manty the first time I waded with it and Minelab replaced it. Now I am looking forward to another go! I'll keep everyone posted!

Happy Hunting Friend,

CJ

CJ ,
Thanks for sharing that small snippet of what I’m sure is a very interesting story of your life. I can only hope to be as active as you when I get your age.(20yrs)
May I ask what do you end up doing with your finds? I’m fairly new to the hobby, and I can’t see myself selling any of the good stuff I find. I did have an idea though I don’t have enough gold yet, but I might get a jeweler to make a ring and put a mercury dime in it if and when I ever find one.

Please continue sharing your wealth of knowledge and cool stories.

Sincere thanks,

Dan

Nice gold and silver! 50 ring returns is awesome! Fun seeing the old posts, I'm sure there would've been some real treats if the forums were around in your early years of detecting.
