4 RING RETURN! Amazing Experience

Return stories are the best! That is about as good as it gets... Thank you very much for the post.

I hit the beach and was working some nice erosion. As I headed back to my truck a man in his 20's approaches me and he looks pretty down. He says his wife lost her wedding ring earlier in the day and asked if I could help. OF COURSE I CAN HELP~! Would love to. As we head over to the location I notice the wife with her arms folded looking miserable. I said "How are you doing?" No response from the woman. She was falling apart. So he tells me the story. 5 hours earlier she had put 4 rings in a bag to make sure she didn't lose them. 2 Silver rings from her friend, her gold wedding band, and her diamond engagement ring. When she left the beach she shook out the blanket (and bag?) and went home. She realized NO RINGS when she got home and drove back to the beach fearing the worst. Using their hands they sifted the entire area with no luck. The husband brought a stud finder thinking that might locate the rings :D They had given up when they saw me down the beach.

By now there was a small crowd of on-lookers. I said let me grid the area. My first hit, SILVER RING! She couldn't believe it. Second hit, the other SILVER RING! They were getting super excited. 3rd hit, zinc penny. 4th hit, gold wedding band! a few moments later I got a nice signal, about 3-4 inches deep I pulled out the diamond ring. She grabbed the ring, went to her knees and put her hands to her face, and cried. After a few minutes, she jumped up and gave me a huge bear hug. They asked if they could give me a reward and I said this experience was reward enough. She told me the diamond in her ring was the same diamond from her grandmother's ring, irreplaceable. She gave me another hug, ecstatic the rings were found. She said I hope you have something amazing happen to you.

I have found some really cool finds, but I have never experienced something like this. I'm still on cloud 9. The good that we can do with a metal detector.

I took a pic with the couple and left. When I got home I found out that my Nox 600 which wasn't supposed to be here until Monday arrived early!

HH everyone!

Very nice! Good timing. Not too early, when they still thought they would find them themselves, and the desperation & gratitude wouldn't have been built up yet. Not too late, after Noob Swingsalot happened along, and cleaned 'em out.

Enjoy the 600! It's likely destined to treat you well.

Perfect! Just Perfect!

Life is all about timing! "The right place, at the right time, with the right gear, and the right mind"...Good on ya and what a testimony! You wandering Angel out of nowhere...

Once in a lifetime experience, remembered by all!

Congratulations on your good deeds!
Good Karma headed your way for sure.
I am not sure how many of us could have done such a thing...

Great job!

Now...imagine finding these right like this, all by yourself, "on the blind", meaning you found all these rings, or a similar ring group, and they were yours to keep.

Just sayin', this kind of loss by flipping a towel on the beach, is semi common. Somebody on this forum must have found a handful of lost rings and didn't have any ID.

Don't go thinking that I am someone who would not be happy to return rings. At the same time, there are situations where the first finder of ID-less jewelry spills, hit the jackpot.

WOW !!!! So many ramifications from this event .Happiness restored to all concerned. Proof shown that you are one of the greatest detectorists on the planet .Proof that people named Rat Fink can be good people too .Proof that your current detector loves you and doesn't want to get retired to a closet . Great job RRF ! Amazing, you got 4 out of 4 no less no more .:clapping::cheer::cheers:

P.S. Great picture of those beautiful rings and the hunt details were great also .

"She grabbed the ring, went to her knees and put her hands to her face, and cried."
You made her cry... what kind of person are you? Apparently, a very good one!
;) Congrats on the great deed and story. The positive impact we can sometimes have on people's lives is mind-blowing.

Great story Rat Fink...

I've had the privilege and wonderful satisfaction of returning five different wedding bands in the past. Every one of these returns happened on the beach while I was hunting. I was asked to help and was happy to do so.

I was offered dinner and drinks, cash but never accepted any tips. I've found many beautiful pieces of jewelry and always knew that someone was really missing my finds. It's nice to give one back whenever you can..........

Good Job....it will come back to you

Great story and recoveries. It's a great feeling when you have experienced giving back something near and dear to that person. Hope the detecting gods reward you too.

Thats great on many levels. Glad to see you were able to reunite her with something that meant so much.
