1776 William Moulton NH colonial copper

Well guys got some good news tommorow theres a coin show in new orleans . Should be like 30 to 40 dealers there im sure one of them should be able to tell me if its real or not. I got my fingers crossed ....I will reply tommorow to let you guys know. Thx again for all you guys info and research :

I hope I am wrong, but it really doesn't look like a genuine one. Many thousands of diecast replicas have been made in the last 30 or so years, this looks like one of those.

Hey Man.

I am very interested in the back of the coin . Does it show any type of small letters . If so you need to check the coin for weight and if it's full copper or some other materials. hey let me know ok.

You want to know if it real.

My best friend is a copper expert from Saugus ma. he is going to the Nashua show tomorrow and he will know if it's real. I can tell by the photo's that I think it's a reprint or copy due to the fact that if you found that in the ground it would never be that clean.

Why somebody would do this is beyond me. Same thread 6 years apart...too much time on their hands? Who knows... I certainly don't.

This is a 6 year old thread - with no reply after the coin show, it was probably just one of many replicas out there.

No posts by the original poster since 2006!

There is no way this coin would have been dug in the ground. People will go out of their way to make up stories like this and many people feed in to it. I knew all along this could be fake. The odds of finding a rare coin like this in the ground is nill. There were so few made that they probably ended up in private collections early on.

I'm personally having a very hard time believing that's real due to the lack of patina or pretty much any corrosion whatsoever.

Please take it to get graded and post back here. Would love to hear that it's real!
