119 memmies
6 nickels
23 dimes
8 quarters
1 1961 1 Franc
1 .925 ring
1 .925 pendant w/Amethyst setting
1 unmarked ring

Thought I had nine quarters until I started sorting and cleaning. The 1 Franc was a surprise; it?s in pretty good shape. Hit an Elementary and a High school. Dawn to Dusk.

Wow, Bob - congrats!

Out of curiosity - what part of high schools do you shoot? Since they don't have playgrounds...

OH

HEY! Save some for the rest of us! Just kiddin, thats an impressive amount of finds. WTG Bob.

It was my first High School hunt, I concentrated around the entrances and the where the buses load and unload, also around the flag pole and obvious congregating points, low walls etc. In general I was disappointed with the finds. It was extremely trashy, and when I did hit on something it was usually a penny. I did find the nice pendant under a low bush next to a window. One thing that surprised me was the amount of coins lying in plain site in the dirt. As the sun was going down, I glanced over to the west and noticed a glint on the surface. It was a dime. I thought cool, so as I swept I keep looking westward, found 5 more pennies from their reflection. I was only at the school from about 3 to 6 and picked up approx. 75 of the pennies there.

Thanks, Bob. I may hit the kids' school in similar areas. I went out to the junior high yesterday and I have an appreciation for shooting in heavy trash areas now!

I know what you mean about the pennies. The school that I have been detecting lately is just like what you describe. But the one thing about it, is that after hunting sites that produce a low coin count, it's nice to have a place that I can go to just to find lots of coins.

Holy cow, that's a load of digging! Congrats on the huge coin count. I love hunting schools myself, especially, like Terry said, after a disappointing hunt elsewhere. It's like a quick pickmeup after getting skunked. Good luck, but leave some coins for the rest of us Bob!
