Update on possible meteorite

Those meteorites are really cool, and very different from one another. Good luck with it Craig! I hope the next update you give us turns out to be great news for you!

Chuck,

When you get as good as master Craig, you can discern the sound differences between man made and extraterrestrial iron. :D

Too funny, LMAO......soon we will have extraterrestrial metal detectors and everyone will want one of those! I can hear it now, "my Moon Shark rocks"

Been away a few days and just found your post..Congrats.. I`ll wait with anticipation. It is very intact though, that makes it very cool.

How much do meteorites go for there's gotta be allot of collectors out there, science teachers what not?

No clue... I guess what the makeup is and where they are from have alot to do with it... I'm hoping to know more by next week... they are going to cut a window in my piece...

Rarity is a big thing for sure. I don't know if those things are radioactive or have alien bacteria in it you might want to keep your distance

Submarine poop

CreepyCrawler called it....

Dear Craig, I cut a tiny piece off of the rock with a hack saw and did not see a change in the structure. So, I took the priviledgr to hammer off a small(1cm cube piece) on one end. There was still not any change in structure so I am very confident, now having seen the inside that it is , in fact, a piece of slag! I'm so sure of this that I see no need to show it to my dealer. So now, at some time, I will need to return it to you. What time would be good? Make some suggestions and I can get back to you! I still had a great time in the persuit of finding out!!! I have passed on your website to other members of our club so they can take a look! Al

When I get back I'll hit it with a sledge hammer to see of there is a crackerjack surprise inside

Too bad it is not a meteorite. My Brother in law (very successful meteorite hunter) would call it a meteor-wrong or a leaverite - as "in leave er right there". Common ones are not worth a whole lot but if you get a rare type you can make bank. I have held one in my hand that just a slice was sold for 7K. BTW- someone jokingly mentioned moon rocks.....Rocks that may have been part of the moon are highly sought after....
