My thoughts on the XP Deus 2 after 50 hours.

I just skimmed through this whole thread and I must say I appreciate your time spent and your easy going attitude.

Funny thing is my go to program I also built out of the fast program with similar settings.. so it was fun finding yours.

Thanks and just subscribed to your YouTube channel.

Hoping to start getting out a bunch with my D2 right away.

Thanks man! I’ve been back and forth through all the programs and just keep coming back to Fast as my go-to. It just works so well at sniping coins from iron and trash. Even coins standing on edge can’t hide from it.

Looking forward to seeing your 2023 results with that D2!

It was the same for me with the Deus I. Fast was my go-to, then I might make a few adjustments for the site.

Nice! Looks like you had a good year! That’s 95 exciting moments that you seen silver nothing beats that👍

Great 🧵. I started detecting in March of 2021, and spent the first year with a Nox 600 and adding a coil tek 10x5 which greatly improved separation in trashy areas. I bought a Deus 2 in February of 2022 and to be honest it sat aside from occasional use till August. Since then it’s all I am using, and I learned a lot about it from a trip to upstate NY in the Fall.

I have a couple custom programs, three exactly, a custom relic, silver slayer and a custom deep HC. I run the custom deep HC 98% of the time, Square 5 tone, reactivity usually at 1.5 but site dependent, custom tone breaks, iron discrimination around 7, zero silencer, pretty much wide open with audio response at 6 and now the XY screen.

In iron which is where I prefer to hunt it excels, I’m at the point where I can gauge depth, shape and size based on the audio alone. What I don’t like is how most desirable silver coins are crammed in to the 89-97 range, in the mid ranges I feel it’s got a great VDI picture, by everything north of say 85 I feel there is too much in that space and the breakdown could have been more spaced out. I was going to get the Manticore but after drilling old buttons and silver coins at 10-12”, even some 14”, I’m going to wait and continue to develop my skills with the D2. I live in Eastern NC and soil types are almost ideal for going deep.

I agree. Wouldn't mind seeing the silver range spread out a bit more. The D2 is a very deep machine, and I've been seeing reports that the Manticore is even deeper, so I'm looking forward seeing how that pans out.

Updated to version 1.0 a couple of days ago and tried it out for about an hour yesterday. I had it set up in General capped at 14kHz, Full Tones, default disc with no notch. Volume turned down on unwanted target ranges. Regular Square audio with the new Audio Filter set at 2.

First impressions: I still don't like Full Tones. To me, running FT in any program other than Sensitive FT or Fast just sounds muddy to my ears. Especially on the lower weighted programs. For me and the type of hunting I do, Pitch is where it's at. It's just a lot cleaner IMHO.

Another thing I noticed is that no matter where I set the Audio Filter, I can't seem to get the same zippy sound on deep targets and snappy sound on shallow ones. Maybe this is all in my head but it seems like it's all or nothing now. With a setting of 0-2, the audio tone just seems more clipped than what it was on 0.71. On a higher setting, it sounds zippy even on shallow targets. Again, maybe this is all in my head. I've only spent an hour using it, so I need to put more time on it.

I like having the ability to cap the max frequency on programs. I can see where this will be useful in certain situations. The Offset FT feature should also be useful for those who like running full tones wide open. Should help make those low conductors jump out at you more, instead of blending with the iron.

Spent a few minutes using High Square audio. No opinion on that yet.

Keep us updated. Been seeing too many bad experiences on the FB groups to try it for a bit. Last update i did killed my clock.

Think were talking about the same thing? You say clipped, I say chopped. If you find a fix for that, let me know! More clipped/chopped=not good.

Maybe so. Do you also feel like the new audio filter feature has caused this? I just can’t seem to find the perfect middle ground with that setting to make it behave like it did before in .71.

It’s a very small nuance but I can definitely tell a difference.

I'm not sure someone else will let me update one of their detectors so we can try all three versions? Been trying to save clams for a Manticore or Equinox 900. I need to get a job at McDonalds me thinks! Lol!

2500 miles away from my Deus2. Living vicariously through those who can update right now.
But in Black Sand and Salt the Deus 2 is very choppy for me on targets of depth. .

Worst problem i'm having is the Deus ll is the worst detector i ever had for EMI. Reminds me of when i detected schools and had to switch from a DFX to an MXT in spots. I got a couple piers and one of my prime spots by a road on the ocean I can not detect with a D2. You get by an Equinox they keep detecting and you sit down and eat a sandwich. CTX i could block all that out. Iron i dug the top of a bean can the other day and couldn't believe it was a solid good signal. Of course i'm not sure the french know how to do an update for beach hunters? In the wash it will scare you the depth you lose!
