XP D2 Warranty-Water ingress

You appear to have a lot of money to burn. Some struggle to buy one detector. What's wrong with someone worrying about a warranty document? You just said you don't care so why is it bothering you?

Lol now it's bothering me? You are assuming again. Lol. If you guys don't like the wording in the warranty section, or XP's response or lack of response then just don't buy it simple as that. Lol. I'm not wealthy, I retired at age 42 and doing ok but not wealthy. Yes I have 2 Deus 2's so we will see if the warranty is horrible or not down the road. But y'all have a choice, buy one or don't. To me that is very simple. Back in the day we had certain people we called at White's, Fisher, Garrett that always took good care of us. Those days are mostly gone but there are still some manufacturers that are great at helping the customer with warranty issues. Sounds like you are bothered though . Just buy a Garrett ;)

Most people/friends I deal with care about what's written and how a warranty is prepared. A few I know don't care because they are stinking rich. Lol... You might not care now , but if you have to send yours in , that's when you will change your tune...

How many situations have you heard of XP not taking care of their customers? I'm just saying there's a lot of crazy talk going on about this warranty and I get it I do, but there are other manufacturers out there if you don't like the wording in a warranty of one manufacturers product then buy from another manufacturer. Is everybody this crazy when it comes to buying a refrigerator or a microwave or a cell phone? My point is if you don't like something about that product there are plenty of other products on the market that should suit your needs like Garrett :-)

Given everything you just said, it's clear that you've completely missed the point, because most of what you said, doesn't make sense, or consists of very poor analogies.

Give that man a cigar. No, actually a whole box of cigars.
Mr Basstrackerman seems is one practical person, no doubt.
Like to meet him someday.

He and I have some thing in common.
We both retired young.

Idk about anyone's warranty issues with XP. Unfortunately , you are right about warranties. Always some loopholes , grey areas. Years ago it seems they were more unconditional. I do think they take each one on an individual basis , no matter what the product if they want to continue to do business. People do have choices. Too bad Consumer Reports doesn't do a review on metal detectors. But that could be a good thing as well. Lol

First, I find it hard to believe that this topic is still going strong.

Personally, I got your point about the wording of Deus 2's warranty the first time even though you have made it clear that you don't think I or several others who have responded have a clue.

The Deus 2, Deus 1 and ORX published warranties (basically the same wording for each model) cannot be separated from the specifications and recommended operational procedures described for those three metal detectors in their manuals. The manuals and warranty go together and are not exclusive of each other no matter how they seem to contradict each other.

I don't recall saying that you missed the point.

Anyway, Like I said, I'm considering getting the D2 for in water use, and for the X/Y screen. I think it was you, that mentioned being able to usually differentiate between a pulltab and a gold ring. That alone is tempting.

With that said, I don't want to buy a very expensive detector with the water ingress warranty aspect of it, being contradictory and vague. What's even more concerning, is that XP dodged the question when asked by TNS. They haven't even bothered to take a few minutes to modify their online warranty policy, despite the XP rep saying they didn't want any confusion. Now add to that, no reply from my water ingress support question to XP. It's all just very odd.

To the best of my knowledge, this is XP's first submersible detector. Making a submersible electronic device isn't an easy task (just ask Minelab lol). Right now, it's way too early to know how well XP succeeded in making the D2 water tight.

Is it so much to ask that XP clarifies their warranty on water ingress? It's not hard to do, so why do they seem to be avoiding it?

A big X2!

Anything said about being able to distinguish a pull tab from a gold ring using Deus 2 certainly did not come from me. I have not had nearly enough time with Deus 2 to make a statement like that.

I agree with you that XP needs to update their Deus 2 warranty to include exactly which components are covered by water ingress and which ones aren't.
That doesn't mean they will however. The HF, X35 and original LF coils are waterproof coils and there has never been anything written about them being covered for water ingress in the Deus 1 or the ORX warranty.

Yeah I'm thinking we have more in common than that .. reading many of your responses to posts or starter threads ,I think I'd respond in similar style. Honestly I think companies should hire more lawyers to confuse things a little more in the warranties of their products. Lol. I know XP will do right for their customers and have zero issues buying any of their products. Anything you buy is a gamble . Understand the risk involved and buy accordingly. Enjoying watching your videos on YouTube. Some of those are opening my eyes. Also seen a buddy on east coast playing with a new toy with a white coil. Rutus I believe. Doesn't look like one I'd ever be interested in from what I'm seeing.

I would not rely on that on the beach. I have been trying the X/Y screen on the beach and it hasn't grown on me yet. Lots of stuff on the beach gives odd signals including certain gold rings. The number spread on targets varies a bit more than say a Nox. You can circle targets and get all sorts of numbers sometimes. Some iron on the X/Y screen has been making a dot in the center. Switch to the horseshoe and you can get it to color in the left a bit. I did get a stainless wedding band and two fake gold chains today. All were a 60 to 62. Numbers don't really guarantee you anything.

Itsaring,

Thanks for the info on the X/Y screen.

I don't want to get off topic with this thread, but I am still in a "grey area" of determining if I should buy a D2. Very soon, I'm going to start a new thread titled something like, "Convince me that a D2 will find more goodies than my current detector."

I'll be looking forward to your input, and many others, when I start that thread.

You think you 2 have alot in common , really ? Here's my eye opening video of what that man is all about. The shooting and maiming of that coyote , then joking about it. Retired military guys I know don't do that. For one who has lost some relatives of late , I'd have thought you were a bit more compassionate.

People were laughing on that one thread about TN said he could pick out liars. But yet when asked about freebie detectors he said he buys all his but forgot he got two in Feb. he was talking about. Probably the ones him and white coat got their hands slapped over and got scared?

I am compassionate. I have an amazing family, my grandkids fantastic, I was a foster parent for 15 years and we adopted 2 teen boys, I retired from the Dept of Corrections and worked 2 full time jobs for 10 years. I've been a hunter all my life, coyote, coon, fox, deer, quail, rabbit , etc. Sometimes you will have an animal, no matter how good the shot is , take a little extra time to die. Yes it seems cruel but many times it's due to the laws as to why follow up shots are sometimes difficult. Especially when shooting with one of my compound bows, crossbows etc. I've seen plenty of coyotes kill cats, dogs, live stock and they never thought for a second to worry about feelings. In videos I've seen the cats and dogs were still squirming while being carried off to be eaten. I understand that many people see hunting as cruel but if you see. How hamburger is made from beginning to end of hot dogs or bacon you may think differently. Or how many countries treat their population which is really sad. I try my best to be sure and take the best shot possible to end the animals life as quickly as possible to minimize suffering but it can't always be done. So if you want to judge me based on a comment I made I happy with that. You mean as much to me as many other people I don't know. Lol. I'm not an azz hole but I certainly can be. Working inside a prison for so long allowed me to not care to much about what people like you think. ;). I figured I'd explain anyway even though you and several others on here that are treating others like s h I t seem to get off on spewing at the mouth. Lol. Hope you have a nice rest of your day. Don't be so judgemental as it's making the forums look pretty bad. ;).

One quick thing... You joined this forum 13 years after me, have never met me, I doubt we have had a handful of words but yet you think you deserve the right to have judgement on me? Lmao. Because I said I may have something in common with another forum member. This right here might be the dumbest thing I've read in a while. Compassion in your eyes is telling another forum member it's wrong for him to find good in another person if you don't like him, therefore you don't like me either. Lmao. See how this looks? Lol. Are you so compassionate that you don't want others enjoying conversation with people you don't like? Lol. Maybe in China but not in America is anyone going to tell me what people I'm allowed to see good in. W. T. F. lol.

Maybe you do have other things in common , idk. Just making a statement based on what you said on that post. I don't know you two from Adam & Steve. I have made some great friends on this forum and hunted with a few. And I don't hate anyone on here. It is what it is. I'm all for a God , guns and country type of guy. And have no problem with taking out the varmints , killing for food , protecting family , your pets , etc. And I know you don't always get the perfect kill shot. But if I was ever to do that I certainly WOULD NOT PUT THAT VIDEO OUT for all to see and comment is all....

Now this is a respectful response. You are absolutely right about the kill shot. But we have seen worse watching old war documentaries, national geographic, or running over an animal on a road. It happens and it will continue to happen. That did not bother me that it was posted. And you are absolutely entitled to your opinion. I will also say that it seems I'll does not make him a bad person by any stretch. Maybe bad taste ? For some but not a bad person. I've also hunted with a few from this forum and have met a few more and have had long phone conversations with forum members. I do not like the grouping up on someone because they believe what they believe. That doesn't make them wrong or a bad person. It makes them different and that my friend is 100% normal. We can't all be the same. But we should not hate or severely dislike a person that isn't like what we want. I appreciate your comment . Have a good night.
