I agree with Tom! I'm all about what Friendly Metal Detecting offers. I love the camaraderie here, and the "characters" that are with us.

I've been to other forums, and frankly, their moderators allow way too much "toxic" stuff, even if it's allowed by the 'rules' of the forum (meaning the mods may be doing their jobs exactly as they're supposed to, but I personally didn't like the toxicity in the comments.)
The mods (and associated rules) here are absolutely STELLAR. I love them, I love how they keep things on track, and I love that this space is safe for families.

I've donated as a contributor, and will continue to do so. Best place on the net, in my opinion. And yeah, I'm looking for "calm atmosphere."

I've seen some really funny people here over the last 5 years, atprobro had to be my all time favorite laugh tho. Earl was always good for a laugh,wonder if he's in a retirement home now getting jello snacks and hoarding medication?:laughing:

Yeah i think the moderation here is MUCH better than the other places i USED to frequent. Dankowski and Herschbach are 2 others that are very good also.
 
Glad to see people are finding ways to escape the reality of the country by using the internet

X2 Xs2 Only been a member for 5 years but IMO it is the best forum, it is entertaining as well as it is informative . And you know what, I like the the family friendly moderation that is the standard here. Keeping things civilized reminds me of a time when people were'nt bickering and trying to tear other down in the faint hope that it might somehow shine a little more favorable light on themselves. My 2 cents. Mark
 
The atmosphere here is great. Minimum politics and everyone is ready to help each other.
You may think of yourself as a success but my advice is to aim higher and be of value.

This right here is why I joined, I told all of you that I lurked for quite awhile, I was on tnet for years and just now I went onto my account over there and the last log-in was 2/25/17. I had enough of there stuff, politics, favoritism,etc.
I had a buddy over there who was sort of the alpha dog and him and I went back and forth every day, in a good way but we also got warned a couple of times due to verbally abusing each other, (thats what tnet called it,we called it having fun). If you look at my 2nd post on this site it was directed to tom-in-cal, he is the closest person that I thought was just like my buddy on tnet, (sorry tom). But you guys were quick to pick up on this guy, I like that. As soon as I read the title I thought this came from tnet.
This is the first site I have joined since walking away and do not regret it one bit, I was cautious of what md site I was going to join next because like I said I was on there for awhile.

I have to admit I do sometimes enjoy watching an expert troll do their thing....for a while. But this guy was a common variety troll and the Friendly Faithful were quick to sniff out and snuff out his line of BS. That was also enjoyable to watch. I would agree that FF strikes a nice balance and is a well moderated forum.

There's expert trolls, but this guy is a "common variety troll."

HAHAHA! Dude couldn't even get a rare card for his character deck. LOL
