Fisher Impulse AQ detector update

Specifically Sandcrab

The TDI was marketed as a gold nugget hunter primarily. It largely failed in the marketplace, hence it is no longer in Whites lineup. I bought οne at full retail - sold it after learning a lot. I used it at the beach in Virginia when I lived there - always terrified of dropping it in the drink.

I had a DFPI - nice machine, but no where as powerful as the TDI.

My knowledge - such as it is - of the AQ is based on careful study of the videos which Alexandre and his team posted years ago on YouTube. After that I followed the program. I was fortunate enough to be allowed to play with a prototype late last year.

You are unimpressed by what I have recounted about my limited use of it. You have every right to be. There is however a strong undercurrent in what you have written which seems to cast doubt not only on what I have reported but my competence and even more my motives.

Hopefully this is just me being a bit sensitive - if so, I would appreciate it if you would state that you have no such misgivings about my character.

Absent such a statement on your part, I will have no alternative but to suppose that you believe that I am either a scoundrel or a dupe.

I assure you that I am neither.

With Respect

Rick Kempf

P.S. what is your name?

Comparing machines, would be nice to see how the Manta stacks up , say to the Whites Df pi, 12 inch with the 6 in the middle, we all know that machine can smoke vlf's , that's a large price tag on a Pi that is over 3 times the price as the Surf Pi Df , with no video proof to back it up, it's all hype SO far, might hold off now, no holly grail , will wait on some proof in the pudding , before taking the bait , so far noone else has bit the hook here. I might add, if this machine does out gun the Df, it could be just the coil that make's the difference at over 3 time's the cost , no big deal, will wait on some video's as the Equinox vlf was all hyped up, it is a good light machine, room in my tool box, but at a reasonable price.

Congrats on your century mark worded sentence Earl.
Might be a friendly forum record.

Time for you to do the real test, congrats to you, i see Calabash doesn' t come around to offen, miss his live hunt's, ya 10 year's is a long time, glad you posted this thread about a new machine, any new PI on my beaches with replentishment sand is a blessing, i was hoping for the best, was very interested, but like Sandcrab, he had some valid point's , un -answered, ;) happy hunting, Earl. PS DID YOU MEAN DECADE BRO:laughing:

I think Calabash might have been banned.

We’ll see how this new detector does.
I sure haven’t seen one up close or used.
You know as much as I do about it.
May be a game changer of sorts though if the iron disc works as being hinted at.

Ok

I will sit back, disc on a Pi will be questioned, as some disc on a VLF , you loose depth, i need a Pi that doesn't loose, but only gain depth, would be a dream machine if it cut out the iron , and didn't loose depth, i have my dought's :nothingtoadd::tropical:

Why was it that the new guy on patrol always got told - take the point.

I have taken a lot or props and a lot of hits for being the “point man” on Manta/AQ.

I take credit for it and don’t apologize. I believe in the promise of this first machine - I have a few gold rings in my box and want more.

I also have grown to know and respect Alexandre, LE.JAG and the others on the Fisher “Euroteam”. That makes me a bit sensitive to shade thrown their way - and mine.

We all want the same thing - the thrill of discovery - the special buzz that comes when in your muddy or sand fingers you hold a piece of the life of someone else - perhaps long gone.

Our club here in Phoenix hunts intensively several US Army training camps. Part of what we find are dog tags. We have a specialist in our club who has become an expert in reuniting them with families of the original GI who lost it.

Whether the AQ is the greatest beach detector in the history of beach detectors or not, we will all learn after it is introduced, perhaps something new about how to maximize recovery of the bits of history hidden in the sand of our beaches.

Shalom, Salaam, vaya con dios

We will see if this turns out to be THE best salt water, in the water, detector EVER or only one of the best :lol::lol:
Based on all this hype I would expect nothing less...

Z

It' s only waterproof to 1 meter , id dunk your new Equinox 1st , it sure would have been nice for at least 3 meters , for that price tag , 1 meter :crazy: , watching this one, hoping for the best .

It's the Second Coming of the PI!

Im sure thats conservative to discourage people from wanting to DIVE with it and the rest of us to be cautious..... cuts down on their repairs. 1 meter thou....with the box submerged is ... well over my head. Thats to deep for me.

Im more on my soap box about the battery life....... 5 hours max. So we add another battery to it..... which im betting ISNT waterproof connector. Whats that extra battery going to cost.... and are we going to have to go find it? Come on ..... cheap detectors run longer than that now. We are just to wrapped around weight now days..... what are we talking an ounce? Finally getting lith batteries that last a week out there yet charge in a couple of hours..... and we take a step backward. WHITES did it.... so they cant say its a PI and uses more.

If you want power in a PI, you need power out of the battery Look at the ML GPX 5000 - big external battery.

The external battery will likely use the same connectors as the one which is built in - waterproof

That was a cop out answer and you know it Rick. 1 ounce more weight and they could double that easily while adding to the balance. Im not asking for power...... im asking for capacity...... EASILY done. Ill argue till the cows come in on this one. ROBO ..... how ya think that would work out neck deep? I dont think their warranty would cover it. I saw a picture .....and i think i understand. They arent talking about connecting battery packs like on the Nox. They seem to be saying you have to BUY another one of these unique battery packs and SWAP them out when yours dies or you need added user time. Pretty unique pack..... wonder what that costs? My guess couple hundred.

May be a game changer of sorts though if the iron disc works as being hinted at.

the iron disc on the TDIpro works great i put 2 big rusty nails on top of my wedding band kris crossed in low conductor adjusted the geb knob as i was swinging and amazingly i heard the wedding band loud and clear through the iron nails then to be sure took the band away to where only the nails were there swang over the nails didnt get a peep now i want to go to some parks and try it it out in action just to find gold rings and maybe a gold coin that the VLFs are missing

Dew

Not only a extra battery pack with charger you will have to get, i dont see any WP headphones with it, after the improvement's , Phones , your talking 3k, and not to mention, since this machine has an internal battery , just maybe the larger battery will be to big, maybe the good to 1 meter than goes to 0 , looking at the TDI beach hunter my freinds interduced me to by PM , might need a larger battery with it, but comes with head phones for less than half of this hyped machine, if the holes line up exactly like the DF's i have a custom Plugger strait shaft that fits , like you said Dew, they should have put a large battery in it to begin with, and we should be seeing the headphones in the package , just like Whites, bottom line, extra cost's added, for a machine that the price is allready 2 1/2 times the cost, better be wright at no extra cost, i will sit back, you take the hook, test it, happy Pi hunting, Earl

Ive got the MDT....so I’m seeing a depth advantage over the Nox in the wet sand....and could be more in the water. That I’ve not tested yet...but I’ve dug some very deep holes. Some one said to me ...it doesn’t seem like they really want us using it in the water....1 meter... and limited battery use. Not keen on having to buy another UNIQUE batter pack. Now....at 5 hours ...if it’s pushing say 16 v to the coil..when will that power Reduction reduce depth?

On the Florida Treasure coast where you're restricted to the wet sand and cannot go in the water I've seen people using Garrett ATXs and the Minelab GPX 5000 and a SDC 2300.

Targets are shipwreck artifacts and silver and gold cobs. Erosion is the most important thing. Do you think a Impulse AQ would be deeper than them?

Having had 2 atxs in the past (1 stolen by glen ellenbart in egg harbor, nj) I would hope the new aq is deeper... and more importantly lighter. The atx was like dragging your desktop computer back and forth along the beach
