Church of the Compadre...

Haven't used mine since I got a Mojave last month.
Just took it out for a couple quick night targets in the yard.
3 22casings a wheatie and piece of a watch band or bracelet.
The compadre still rocks!

alas I have joined this esteemed congregation!

new Compadre arrived today, for my 7 & 9 year old kids...they are ecstatic

Set it to zinc to scout a new camp area and was rewarded with about $4 in clad and my oldest coin so far. A 34 wheat back.

Probably have to order it from an electronics supply house online.
Not a common part anyone usually needs around here for us non tinkerers.
Mine is turned as high as possible without noise to just about max and except for one site only it has been super quiet and stable at every place I have ever used it for almost 7 years.

I don't think it would be advantageous to add a sensitivity pot but your looking for a B10K pot if you do. I would think a dual disc control or GB would take your mod further. Those would be a B100K potentiometer. I over tweaked the sensitivity for todays hunt. I was air testing a dime at a consistent 8 inches. When taking it to the tot lot, it was most unstable but I found 5 wheat backs with it, a 1940,two 1944's, 1946, 1948.I just reset it air testing dime at 6 3/8 ", there is no chatter whatsoever,I am going to take it back out after dinner today to see how it hunts.

Nice one Bibelot. Love finding wheaties!
I bumped up the sense on the one I waterproofed.
Adds a good bit of depth especially in the wet lake sand I hunt in.
Always have disc at minimum/all metal on that one so no
worries of it affecting the discrimination.
Haven't touched my land compadre.
It's found targets as small as an earring back on the
liner under the chips at most of the tot lots I've had it.
Love these simple little detectors!

Bumping sens can affect discrimination?

Bumping the sensitivity affects machine operation stability. Not only are you bumping the sensitivity, you are altering the threshold setting and gain setting by adjusting the sensitivity setting. You have to be within the proximity of the factory setting or else it becomes very unstable to operate and will not be as efficient as it was prior to your changing the sensitivity in the first place.

My machine was so unstable this morning, it was constantly false signaling/chattering that it was so difficult to know whether you actually had a repeatable signal or not. What I like to do is to swing the coil ungodly crazy fast and listen for repeatable signals. Like all Tesoros, it has a knack to find round objects whether it be a pull tab or coin or ring, it doesn't discriminate providing the target is round. The faster coil speed knocks the other targets out of the equation unless they are really big iron pieces. other times at slower speeds, sometimes you will get a beep within a beep signaling a shallow high conductor amongst the iron signaling. My silver sabre II will do that as well, worth knowing or learning to use it at tot lots where most post are metal in the playground environment, it allows you to find coins along metal playground equipment.

At that point of where I had it set this morning with the constant falsifying signals feeding through the headphones. It really isn't worth changing to that high of a setting, you are taking away the very thing the Compadre is known for at that point.

I don't know whether my sensitivity screw is backwards or what but turning the screw counter clockwise increases sensitivity, turning the screw clockwise lowers the sensitivity on my machine. I hope this helps

Definitely can make it less reliable.
With the Mojave at preset/4 and disc set just past iron
I would never dig a nail, rejects them consistently.
With sense at 5 or above every once in a while
a nail will sound solid, and the rejection is a lot noisier.
Same with pull tabs and screw caps with disc at line
between pull tab and zinc .

They are all that way.
Also they aren't really as sturdy as a larger pot.
My friend messed with his one time too many times and had to
send it in for repair.

Thanks guys, i just got a 10 turn pots 10k and 100k from my electrician i think im gonna hold on the mods, it seems that youhave been uing them for a while
