You're telling me something like this might work? Because if that fits in the compartment I'm going that route!Just thinking out loud with ya here...
It looks like the two 9V are wired parallel, so, just maybe...
You could take a Plano waterproof box, set it up for 6 AA, you would have 9V again, at 1/3 the cost of 9V, and double the battery life.. With just a little more weight, but you might be able to place the new box in a way to balance the machine better, in the end, it might even "feel" lighter...??
Besides smoke detectors, I don't get why anything else would use 9V batteries...

Actually, it's four 9 volt batteries, but I do think they are wired in parallel, so still 9 volts, but last longer because there are four of them. Battery life will depend on the mAh rating. Good alternative Ice!

I've been using these for 2 years now without a hitch.http://www.lowes.com/pd_318749-1163...&pl=1¤tURL=?Ntt=9v+batteries&facetInfo= A $1.00 each isn't bad.
Man, this is an OLD post. And dat my friends is a good example of why I prefer the xcal battery. You have batteries and if u use pricy rechargables, gasket, 9v plug, and the holder. From the wire nut its happened before. Could be $100 mistake. Then you get paranoid and takes awhile to trust it again. Thanks for showing it..... it happens... but man I feel for you sorry about your loss.
Real old post, why don't you introduce yourself to the forum? I love to hear about your hunting down under! From looking at the second picture down....the O-ring is installed incorrectly.
The higher ridge goes into the groove on the battery door but this photo shows the opposite.
Not sure if the OP mentions this or not but yes it is an easy mistake to make !
