This year was an interesting year for me to say the least. A lot changed in my life. Since people still wonder where I am hiding I thought I would give all a heads up.
First, my Chris Craft boat decided to grind the main gears in the out drive about a mile out in lake St Clair. I had to put my flippers on and mask and tow it back into the marina. That took about 3 hours I am guessing and I was absolutely exhausted once I finally got it to the dock.
Second, my trusty Ford Exploder (Is that even possible) decided to run only on 5 cylinders after over 300 thousand miles and give me all kinds of fits driving in the city. On the highway, you really couldn't tell.
So I decided to go on a small shopping spree in September and upgrade my treasure hunting rides.
My first purchase was a newer truck. I chose a 2008 Chevy Avalanche. Then I drove a bit over 3 hours into Canada and bought a Cargo-Glide. You can find them on fee-bay. It is like a sliding shelf with sides to hold all my scuba gear and be able to slide it out of the bed without having to climb in the back.
My next purchase was a Mirage Rampage open bow boat. This boat will get me in all the inland lakes that I want to play in and pilfer and help me find new sand bars. Hopefully not the way I found one in one lake. I ran into it at almost full throttle. However it gave up 19 gold rings to Kevin and I so I can't complain too much! Oldest ring dated was a class ring from 1910.
My third and final purchase I bought from another friend and a member of this forum Clad-2-Meet-U. It is a 23' Sea Ray Sundancer with all the comforts of home for the larger lakes like lake Huron, Michigan and lake St Clair. I had my boat shrink wrapped last weekend. This is the exact same one.
My Chris Craft is going to Texas with me for Christmas. I am giving it to one of my daughters to repair and have with my grandchildren. I rebuilt the interior including a new floor and the motor. It just needs an out drive and it will be good to go.
On another note, I have never been given a vacation from a forum before. I might have deserved it but not being able to say my peace before it happened seemed wrong. The mods have a tough job to do and I respect that. I decided to keep my comments and posts to a minimum and leave all the BS threads completely alone. My opinion is I helped more on here than I have called out. But I am allowed my opinion and so are all the other members of this fine forum. We all know people come and go. I used to love a sign I saw on a business once. It said. Everyone brings pleasure in going through the door. Some by going in, others by going out.
No matter who comes and goes, the forum will keep on. I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and a very safe and prosperous new year. Enjoy your life as you only have one to live. Peace and happiness to all the many folks I have had the pleasure of speaking to and knowing on this forum.
