Hey everyone! Super noob here. :lol:

I'm from the Kenosha/Racine area and am just getting into metal detecting. A family member got my son a Bounty Hunter junior for birthday so I took him out to the beach a few times and we had a great time. I've never been metal detecting before so it has been a fun and interesting experience. I've always been interested in it, but I feel like I have too many hobbies already. However, I have decided to pick up my own metal detector in the next week most likely. I'm going with the Garrett AT PRO I believe along with their pin pointer AT. Hoping to eventually meet up with some locals to see how it's done.
 
I'm still here, been a few years since I have posted anything, trying to distance FB and come back to a site with real people and no B.S. C-Dog
 
I'm in rural central Wisconsin, Loganville, Reedsburg area, near Baraboo, too

Did not know that Milco, I still have a lot of family in that area. Lived in Markesan for 19 years, My son graduated fron H.S. there. Thought you were from Fondy where I was brought up.

I'm sure my wife would know some of them as she grew up here, left for awhile , met and married me and brought me here for the last15 years

Does anybody know if metal detecting is allowed in Waupon, WI or Ripon , WI city parks?

Hi Groundhog,
I was up in Ripon a few weeks ago hunting at a local park as my son goes to the college up there.
No one said anything. Since it's a public park I didn't even think of asking.
I suppose the worse thing that could happen is to be told that detecting is not allowed.
I do know that you are not allowed to hunt on the 1851 campus.

I've hunted both communities on several occasions as well as Markesan, Brandon, Fairwater, Rosendale and a few other sites. Lived up there for most of my life. Good luck. Jack

Yes J&J, from FDL, but lots of family in Markesan.

Like I said earlier, I go up to Ripon quite often during soccer season (sept-nov)

When driving up there I drool as I drive past all the very old houses.
There are so many in Ripon and the surrounding area. If I wasn't a
door knocker, living up there would probably make me start :)

Have you ever door knocked up there or have you considered it?

I have a few permissions in Markesan. At the moment I have some that I would like to try but I am hoping to upgrade for next season and don't want to have to go over a bunch of places a second time as I'm not keeping up with what I have in Markesan
