A So Cal "Oh My God" Moment Plus 11 Silvers This Week

Alright, hear me out on this...

I learned something today! Which brings me back to this thread... The thing I learned is a capped bust dime is bigger around than other newer (even seated) dimes! And your one silver with a hole in it ( looks to have been shot, then pounded flat again, then drilled out for a pendant) could be your oldest silver, beating out that killer seated!

What do you think? Maybe Spanish or capped bust?

Congrats again on all of it!!!

I do think that mystery coin's bigger hole was made with a bullet then pounded smooth again...

Thanks for the comments everyone, I appreciate them.
Lots of very nice finds, congrats!

Congrats on your first Seated Quarter, the other silvers, sterling and the rest of the finds...excellent digs Jason!

Nice coins....seated is a great find!

Congrats on the great finds. That pilot ring is real cool to.

Awesome quarter Jason! Doesnt get much better than that. :) Great job.

Absolutely fantastic finds

Thanks Tom and Ron. I keep hearing how rare they are here in the turf in California and it makes me even more excited about my find.
seated quarters from a turfed park here in CA is quite an accomplishment! Congradulations.

One awesome find Jason!!! Like Tom said, some in other parts of the country may not know how rare that is to get out here!!

Thanks Dan! It was nice sharing the excitement with you on the phone. I really wish I could figure out the holed coin thing. I will bring it on Sunday if we meet up to hunt.
It almost felt like I was right there with you, Jason, on the night you found that seated quarter. Appreciate the phone call, and the live, play-by-play, unveiling of your oldest silver coin ever!! I know just about as well as anybody how rare a S. Cal turf seated is to find! Let's hope your seated is not the last one we find. Major Congrats on an exciting week of finds. Glad I got a chance to hunt with you for a few hrs last week. Your holed coin is sure interesting. Could someone have been starting to make a coin ring with it? :?:

See you in the turf!

HH,
Dan

Nice digs! Congrats on the seated!

Awesome hunting - congrats!

Crazy finds! Love it! Wish it was me!

Holy cow! Incredible west coast find! Congrats.

i always look forward to your post , this one was no let down a seated from a pounded park :wow: way to score the goods

:wow: Seriously awesome finds!! Congrats!

I did many many years of dirt detecting in California before converting to beach hunting and I never found a seated liberty coin. That is just awesome and beautiful! Congrats!

Thanks bud! Maybe you will be surprised with one on the beach someday. The great thing about this hobby is you never know what the next dig will be.

Jason!!! Thats freekin awesome!!!

Very rare turf find for SoCal indeed. Huge congratulations my friend!

Hopefully we get to hunt together again soon... Im movin to Savannah in a month...

Thanks Darin! Yeah hopefully it works out to do a hunt before you take off to the east coast.

Thanks Ice! I like your theory's and even thought it could be Spanish silver because of its size but never thought about a capped bust. You could also be right about being shot then pounded flat again. I have found a couple shot coins and I could see what you mean. I really wish I could see something on the coin and have inspected it with a loop but there's nothing.
Still looking for one of those, big congrats man!!!

Even your damn jewelry is clipped! Dang it!

Nice find! I totally understand your excitement having just dug a seated not too long ago myself here in california. A seated is a find I don't think anyone would ever forget. Congrats!

Nice finds Jason. Congrats on the nice quarter! "S" mintmark to boot.

You were there when I found my first seated and I remember how excited I was when I found mine. I couldn't imagine had it been a quarter.

Greg

Jason, I can understand that moment as it only happened to me a few weeks back. Digging my first ever Seated Quarter left me kneeling at the plug for what must have been 10 minutes. At least you had the presents to call Dan to share your rare moment. That coin is one you will remember and smile about for a very long time. Congrats on that recovery and another very productive week and reaching the century mark on Silver Coins. Jack

Huge congrats. Especially on the seated quarter. Want one sooo bad! Shame you can't see more detail on the holes dime(?). Killer few hunts for you. Way to go, Jason!!
