How come everyone of you leave when the kids/parents/coaches show up to practice or play?
Because we're nice people who have common sense.

No common sense has nothing to do with it.
You're arguement about signs going up due to people asking are thinner than my skin right now on this subject. QUOTE]
Common sense has everything to do with it.
Not sure what you mean with this statement: "You're arguement about signs going up due to people asking are thinner than my skin right now on this subject."
If you're saying you have a bit of thin skin on this subject because you're actively involved in the groundskeeping at your ballpark, you'll get no argument from me.
And for your question: If push came to shove....Whos got more "rights" to that baseball field? You or the team that just showed up to practice on it? Point blank, answer that for me.
Common sense says it the baseball team.
Gotta ask Uptown: are you OK?
FUN VICTORY This saturday
I was doing a small town tour just crusing and looking for cool spots to hunt. I like to just go for a cruse and when I see a spot stop and swing. I spot the baseball field that is away from the school by a mile and I know it is school property. There are a few high school players having practice and I pull into the lot. I already have pouch and knee pads on I just have to hop out and grab the magic MXT wand and start swinging.
I dug my first plug and I Look and there he is with his baseball bat, THE COACH!
DO YOU HAVE PERMISSION he says. I look up and say I did not call the school. NOW mind you im on the outter fringe of the gravel parking lot, just barely in the dirt with a 4 in diam hole 5 in deep and a clean plug. I proceed to say I fill in all my holes I take all trash like this nail and screw i have in my pouch.
HE got all puffed up and started in with well this is school property and he is responsable for it blah bla blah. When he paused I simply said well this is public school and public property.
THAT blew him out of the water he just clutched his little baseball bat and walked off. I stayed and hunted for about 30 min
ent toooo shea !!!! CHEERS

Included the original post, since the thread got off track...
Does the OP seem like a nice person, with common sense? Sees a baseball team practicing, decides it's the perfect setting to have a little fun. Wouldn't common sense tell him, that the coach would be a little upset seeing him digging holes? Good chance of a confrontation? How is provoking a confrontation, being a good ambassador to the hobby, or even a good idea in general?
The OP only started the thread, bragging, but hasn't returned...
... Notice how they are not called METEL DETECTING fields??? .....

Geez, another personal attack... I even quoted the entire first post to this thread, and you still didn't, but focused your attention on what I wrote. Simply read the first line, and the last line of his post, can you see how proud he was?
My opinion is this: Showing and interest in a harmless recreational activity, that actually does some good in most areas (removing sharp, hazardous trash), which most people don't have a problem with, is a good thing. Talking to people, asking question, being responsible isn't going to produce a negative response. People learn new things everyday, and usually enjoy the experience.
Now, you never, ever, dig holes, so you should never have any issue swinging that coil around, unless you are a little careless, break a few kneecaps
The OP hung out another 30 minutes, like maybe waiting for practice to end, so he could hit center field...
If its so funny take the challenge.....don't ask permission, go to your local ballpark and keep detecting when the kids show up to play. See if any signs go up. After all they shouldn't due to your "rights". Be sure to post your results. I'm curious if that would be like the funnies then.
Are we done yet ?
I think you should do a survey. Like I said earlier common sense left the building ad soon ad a tool is sunk in a sports field for some dropped pocket change.

"Those who can't play coach"? Really? do you watch any sports what so ever???!!!! Middle school football? What didn't like people telling you what to do later in life so you quit at 14? LOL explains a lot in your approach. Good luck with your ballfields, I hope you find enough to to buy a coil cover in a few years.

All yours. I've read enough in here to know that your side would win in a land slide, and will also be the first to not take any responsibility when the signs going up, but blame it on the smaller percentage that would or do ask permission. More common sense out the window.
I just hope the 1.87 haul per trip is worth it with that occasional crusty wheat penny thrown in. I'm guessing most people hunt these spots due to not having the common sense to try and find different property to hunt.
I have another example I just thought of.... Ever notice how at a city pool it will say for that's cities residents only? You know why? Because tax payers don't like paying for pools so that the next town over can come P!ss in it. I'm sure at some point, people who ran the town that owned the pool figured there was enough common sense to NOT swim in a pool that you don't pay for, or that signs had to put in place to pick up dog !!!! because common sense never showed up at that party either. I feel bad for you if you're holding to common sense in todays age. That shipped sailed long ago.
