I have to ask!

may we apologie !,

hi.Coin whisperer. i think someone is out of line with their comment to you ! It was totally uncalled for , and someone is wrong with their verbel attack. !! Pay it NO attention. :D

Still it would pay you to move, I was down Melbourne beach this past year in May, the bay was in the community on the other side of the road, walk across the road were we were staying on the ocean, we looked at houses down their in the 300s between the ocean and bay, we asked a guy who lived in that neighborhood he paid 2400 in taxes for the year, there is no way CT would get that kind of money from me, because I would never live their, knowing that they tax you to death............

I have no wants to live where one doesn't get the four seasons Earl... I like the snow... all those warm climes make one weak

Four seasons are nice for me too. Except for the one that is too cold for my old bones.

We are the same age but I understand ;) for me the cold is refreshing unless I am water hunting then its a bit chilly especially if water gets down my gloves  I thought our water temp was around 39 the news said it was 33.1 thats why I nearly got frostbite on my middle finger last hunt :D

This is the first time that I have been on for awhile. Just reading the forum post sometimes it does seem like the beach hunters find a lot of gold and they probably do find a lot more than I will in tot lots and parks and old houses. I love the idea of being able to make a living off of it but I think it is like fishing. For the guys on the pro bass circuit if they are able to live off of it at all it is a numbers game how many cast you can make in a day. It goes from being fun to being a job. Not a bad job but a job.
I just got my first detector. A used BH Tracker iv. No it isn't a excal or AT Pro but I am having fun with it. I have been out twice and found a grand total of 1.05 in clad no silver or gold and a ton of trash and one arrow head when I was filling a hole back in. $ total. not much. Enjoyment factor OFF THE CHart! For me it is the idea of not knowing what you will find. Yeah I want to find silver and gold but that is a bonus.

Just a noobie opinion.

Don't guess they can wear a speedo up that way:?::laughing:

Metal Detecting The beaches From Maine To Florida

Has helped me tremendously. That Ray Sam Wagaman guy wrote it and it's on Amazon.com LOL:D

Could someone find the thread from a few years ago where a guy tried to live off his finds. He spelled out cent for cent what he found and what he sold items for etc. I think he used this money to eat off of as well. It was very interesting.

I had what would be considered a wonderful year. I think 9 gold rings, over a dozen silver rings, dozen silver coins or so, and 3 IHPs. Plus, the random gold coin. My avatar. Unfortunately, its not worth all that much. Finds are not consistent enough to actually rely on it as income. I love the hobby, have fun every day I get to do it. But, its just for fun an piece of mind, finds are considered a plus/bonus. hh an gl -Joe

Being a dirt fisher it seems from here that you beach hunters have it made!!! It's like every time you guys go out you find 4 to 7 gold or plantium rings and 8 silver coins! Do most of you guys live off of all the gold you find???? because it seems to me that if you find say 20 to 30 gold or plantium rings a month you would make enough in melt than most reg guys jobs pay

FWIW it ain't that easy:lol:. I need to find about 20 gold to pay for gas for the year for detecting driving to beaches. Right now for the year I'm at one eyeball gold find at 6 bucks:lol:. The dirt fishers are kicking my arse on gold, and I own an AT pro, 2 sov gt's CTX, 2 DFX's, V3i, Excalibur, BHID 300.

I hear you loud and clear,,,,,today I looked at my log for golds last year after January and Feb, and I better start swinging more and other beaches,,,,,cause the beaches where I live are just not giving,,,,,,

Like I have said before, these beach hunters have my respect. I don't think I would last long getting pounded in the serf and lifting a sand filled scoop for hours on end.
They definitely earn what they find!

sad thing is its not the lifting of the sand that always gets you,,,,,its the swinging cause many hunts you aint digging anything,,,,,today, was that day for me,,,,,sometimes I just start digging knulls just to see what kind of junk target it is to see if it has weight,,,,,ruff when you are just wanting to hear a good tone and there are none to hear,,,,,GL HH

I think I could find enough clad in a day to live off of top ramen (oh, the diesel school days lol) but I would have to live under a tree or something because we don't even have a bridge here. Then, once I needed batteries I would be broke and have to panhandle for awhile.
If I tried to live off of beach hunting I'd REALLY be in trouble!

I actually saw a bum on the beach picking up beer cans from the spring break kids and I think by the day he did better than me and the other 7 hunters,,,,not to get anything started but at least 3 of them were using a bounty hunter with no headphones and a garden shovel:lol:

Move to Connecticut and I will guarantee you will be working more than playing to pay your house taxes... I have a 1500sf house on .31 of an acre... my taxes for the house and property are almost 8 grand... Someone made up license plates that say "Connecticut the Tax you to death state"

Holy catfish!! WOW. My home is 1100sq foot in a one horse town. My father always called Port Huron a resort town.....The LAST resort.

Your taxes are off the chart. Do you live on the ocean?

Someone hasnt been paying attention..... hunter in the NE do find 1925 rings, old silver, and watches. You never know what people bring to the beach even today. Recently someone down my way found what seemed like a coin collection of old coins someone dropped. We dont just find gold. I also agree those doing it for a live aint posting..... thats just dumb and bad for business. There are a couple on the E coast of Fl that im sure can do it from what i know about them. Also i want to say for the record..... ROBBY man you need to check your disc.:laughing::laughing:

If you call 10 miles from the beach ocean front then I guess I am

I have a customer who has water front property Bob.. her taxes are 45k a year... what amazes me is she has the money to pay it  I guess her husband was loaded :D

Hey Dew, I wish I could "check my disc" but I don't have an Excal... All that trash was from my early days with the Surf PI. I still get trash and sometimes if it's big, I'll still dig it up just to get it outta the way and outta the water!

I now have about 300 hours swinging the Surf PI and my finds have gotten far better and far far deeper. I am getting really good at the deep whispers (in part thanks to Craig and some early advice he gave me) and over this past summer I got at least 3 rings each day (a lot of them junkers, but a ring is a ring) and I averaged a Gold Ring a month.

My best WATER find last summer:

8.8g of 14K

And my best DRY SAND find last January 2013:
