National Metal Detecting Day - Atlantic City, NJ The Results

Cool video Bob... I completely forgot that thing was above us once the hunt started

Me too I saw it briefly for a moment at the starting line but as soon as we started I had no idea that thing was flying over our heads.

Here are my finds for the two days. It was my first hunt and I had a ton of fun. I was wondering if it is normal for a seeder to be able to hunt too? It seems like an unfair advantage and one of the seeders won a minelab detector.

No pics of the foreign coins.

On to hunt #2,

Lined up opposite where I was on hunt #1.

Picked up another pouch full of coins and another token that was for a silver ring.

Lastly, hunt #3.

Picked up a few more coins, but no tokens this round.................

Then comes the raffles, and prizes!!!

There were 10 of the Minelab coins, and the holders were allowed to pick an envelope which contained the prize that you would receive. There were a few detectors and some pro find pointers/silver rounds.

I let my 5 year old pick and she drew me an Excalibur II!

Couldn't think of a better way to end a great day!!!

We ate at Rainforest Cafe which was good for what it is, (Chain restaurant).

We also stayed in Bally's. The room was nice, but there is no customer service from them. It almost seems that they can care less if you are there or not.The only people that spoke to us were the security guards! Not sure if they are short staffed or what, but I did expect more from them. Also everything there is an added cost; parking, internet, pool use. I expect parking and pool use to be included at the least for guests of the hotel.

Here are the finds for Saturday................

Wow! Was waiting to see the forum member who won the excal 2. Nice coin finds as well.

Yea he was openly talking about it. I heard him saying that because of the rain you could tell where he put the coins since it left little marks and then I was confused because he grabbed his detector and walked out to detect. Also later in the day I heard him joking about not being able to find the items he put out there.

I don't like the idea of allowing a seeder to hunt even if they're hunting at a different spot....It just doesn't look good.

Really?

I have NEVER heard of a seeder being able to take part in the hunt (or win a major prize) in ANY club hunt I ever attended - or helped to organize. We ALWAYS stayed out of the hunt and prize giveaways!

I agree but my club hunts which are pretty big allow this. You are suppose to stay clear of your area for 5 minutes. We hit so much in our club hunt I don't think it matters. For a 40 dollar entrance fee I dug about $150 in halves and quarters. On the first day in AC I was asked to seed. I didn't.
Check out my club I made the web site.

We will just have to disagree on this. Seeding should always be done by volunteers that will NOT be eligable for prizes. You would think Minelab would have more "integrity."

They asked Bob and he turned it down so if Bob said yes then he can't hunt?

With the amount of hunters it was a !!!! shoot to find one of the tokens...

They placed 1 out in the first hunt, 3 in the second hunt and 6 in the last hunt.

Minelab and all the sponsors there did a great job...

Good for Bob! Sounds like HE has integrity.

Yes, if you volunteer to seed, you should not be able to hunt.

If they asked me and I paid the fee's to hunt, then I would hunt because I do have integrity and would not hunt where I seeded...

Good, Now that everyone got that outta the way, One more word about a seeder I'll close this thread.....
