So I have had some vacation time off from work and the weather has been perfect so it’s prime time for detecting. I detected for three days straight, although I don’t think my wife was too happy about it because nothing on the honeydew list got done around the house but that’s what winter is for. My first day was a small cut cornfield near a 1760 farmhouse I’ve had my eye on and got permission for. I spent about & hours there and the field is small so I was able to grid the whole thing. I thought it was going to be lights out because it was loaded with iron and the second hole I dug was a flat button. Long story short I ended up with a few musket balls, 6 flat buttons( 1 of which has a horse on it but got whacked pretty good by the plow), and an 1871 Indian was the only coin. It turns out the 1871 was a very low mintage so I was pretty happy with that. When I got home my dad called me and said he had gotten us permission at a hayfield across from a 1738 farmhouse. The field is very big and we knew it would take us a couple days. Day one for me was 4 buttons( 2 are civil war general service buttons), and a toasted matron head. My dad got a couple buttons, a Buffalo, and an 1889 Indian. Day two came and the field wasn’t as productive as we thought it would be so we worked closer to the road near the old house. I ended up with 6 more buttons, a piece of shoe buckle, half of a big croatal bell, a 1912 V nickel, an 1838 matron head, and a 1723 woods hibernia, which is my third one from this general area. My dad got a few more buttons and a dateless king George 2 copper. The fields definitely produced some great stuff but weren’t as productive as we had originally thought. I’m beginning to think we’re just spoiled. Thanks for looking and I hope everyone is having luck. This is the best time of year here in New England.

Nice finds and very good batch of coins and buttons for sure. I think its very cool that you are meeting with the land owners.
