I hit three different beaches today. The first two were hopeless.

The last one has a nice thick muddy spot which is only reachable on the real low tides .. today was one of them.
Scored a few coins & sinkers & what I thought was a silver ring.

However, when I got home and cleaned it up I could read the hallmarks ... Boom 750 white gold! 3.3 grams.

Nice hit there meggie, but after all the gold rings you keep pulling out, are you really surprised anymore? :D

PeteJC, there's math behind Meggie's numbers.

24 karat gold is pure, 100%, gold.

"750" tells you the ring is 750 parts of 1,000 gold.

750/1,000 = .75 or 75%. So a ring stamped "750" is 75% gold.

If 24k is pure gold and the item is stamped 750 then:

24 x 750/1000= 18 or 18k gold.

The same is true for silver. Something stamped "925" is 92.5% silver or sterling silver.

Hope this helps.
