Don't discount those curbstrips in 1950's era neighborhoods. Spent a few hours this morning making my way down the street. Found a nice long producer! Over 100 coins. Couple silver dimes and several wheats. 2 silver pendants (one is quite chunky). Not sure what the sterling engraved piece is. Any ideas? The old harmonica reed was a surprise. Thanks for looking.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I used the 6 inch coil exclusively today. Really works well for curbstrips. Kinda forces me to go slower and really pick out the nice tones.

What a day!!! Congrats! I been eyeballing a few curb strips around town but haven't hit em. This post might be the catalyst haha. Good finds.

Nice finds. I still haven't worked up the courage to do curb strips.

That's a lot of digging Stiff, nice haul and congrats on the silver, you're on par for a great year. Those curbstrips sure do produce for you. HH Mark

Good gravy, that’s a great haul! I love curbstrips, but I’ve yet to find a producer like that! But then, I’ve been focusing on older areas of town...just like every other hunter, I’m sure. Great advice not to disregard the 50s neighborhoods - great stuff was lost then, too, and much less likely to have drawn hordes of detectorists over the years like the 1890s or 1920s neighborhoods!

Also, great tip to try the 6” coil on curbstrips. I have broken my 6” out much since I’ve been focusing mainly on farm fields this year, but it seems like curbstripping is a natural for the 6”! I’ll definitely give that a shot as I transition into curb strips once field planting starts.

Stiff, where I live we don't have curb strips. May be a few but people around here usually are not "tolerant to strangers at all."
I've been using the 10.5" coil on my 705. I'm hitting twist offs like US quarters so crazy. I've not been hunting much but gotta get out there.
I'm switching back to my 6" DD 3khz. The coil is called the Digger and is designed to sniff out silver and copper as it hits high conductors hard.
That's due to lower hertz. It's been called the coin killer and can separate crazy well. Those beer twist offs? IDs them at a solid number very high conductors and I can avoid them better with 3khz coils. They read even higher than silver! Highest # on my VDI. Now reading your post I'm going to switch out today. Even at larger sized areas it can produce. Also forces ya to slow down.

Congrats Stiff!!! I too have been thinking about changing my search parameters from 1900s era to closer to 1940s....nice batch of finds:yes:
