I found this Saturday and cleaned it up best I could for now, it was only under a couple of inches deep, the area was near a low slopping ditch. The area of Louisiana I live in has been settled since the Cajuns relocated here from Nova Scotia, I guess its possible for a coin to be this far south due to the war of 1812 also. I believe from what I can make out on the coin that its a 1799 King George III half penny, anyone see the same thing?

Your pictures are too blurry, I can't see any details. Try holding the camera (I'm guessing you're on a phone?) about 4-5in above the coin, and then zoom into the coin. Let it focus and then take the picture.

Agreed the pics are too blurry to see much detail but I do think I see britania sitting as on the sample coin. place a penny or something for size scale also.

Seems like you have the correct coin pictured, but your pics are too blurry to make anything out. Nice find!
i dug something that looked exactly like this at an 1800s church a while back.. i thought it was trash and threw it away.. Granted it might have been still but kinda kick myself for not at least posting it on here. I dug it at the base of an old rotted tree stump/hole. Oh well lol

i thought it was a metal punch out or something. was same size/color as this one.. i dont think i posted it.. ill look back but pretty sure i cleaned it up and tossed it thinking it was just trash.
