Hello all...dug this small button yesterday, I'm thinking WW2 era? The shield on the Eagle appears to have the letter S on it when viewed up close, the back is hard to make out...I can see a couple of letters making me think it says Superior Quality?? Dug in NE North Carolina in a farm field...tks all

Great Seal Button

dates back to 1902. General Service button, one style for all arms and all grades, private to Lt General. I think it's still used today. HH Jerry

The date range could be narrowed to 1910-1923. The pattern was introduced in 1902, but didn’t have the outer rim that yours has until 1910. Then the black finish which still mostly remains was used until 1923.
