I found this near a creek. It was buried in sand and clay which seems to make concrete. I have tumbled it for several hours just to get it as clean as it is but there are still rocks and mud embedded. It’s made of brass and looks like it could be some kind of bell.
Maybe a bell of some kind?

My buddy found something "similar" but more ornate.. turned out to be a mechanical door bell.
I think you're onto it.. doorbell.. I see two screws in the pic..I'm thinking electric doorbell..make the connection turning or pulling the knurled knob and hope you don't get shocked..
