Was out today at a new spot and found this stuff. One Rosie not old, 3 Memorials and a plated spoon which was bent almost in half that I straightened out....But the coolest thing was the Cub Scout Wolf neckerchief clip. Is in real good shape
CallMeGrey,
There was no silver...Spoon was Silver plated Oneida, junk Rosie dime was 2002 D, but I was still excited finding all that stuff.........except for the aluminum cans, bottle caps, and foil.
Hope you don't mind me joining in and adding some pics Pete. It was great to hunt with you yesterday! We hunted a spot that I was told was an orphanage in the late 1860's. Later became a church home, a girls home and now apartments. And obviously the cub scouts/boy scouts met here. The grass was real high and almost undetectable on about 2 acres but what we could detect was fun. I was there for about an hour the day before and dug some nice things.
That is a nice slide Pete. Congrats to you and Steve. Looks like you guys a have a promising permission. Hopefully you can return when the grass is a little shorter. Good luck, Mark
In ‘64 I was a brand new Boy Scout wearing my new uniform. Troop met outside of a church and we spent the meetings standing in line by patrol. Halfway through I realized I had lost my kerchief slide but couldn’t find it. Looked for months.
50 years later, driving past the church. Pulled over and took my detector to where I believed I stood. 4 swings and I found it about 4 inches deep in black muck. Still looks great.
