Hi All,
I'm looking for some help in identifying the best way to remove a dull white layer off of a silver half I dug the other day. This is the third coin that I have found this way, all in different locations. Most times the silver comes out nice and shiny here.
In the pictures below you will see a quarter and a dime. They were completely covered in the white also, but have spent a lot of time in an ultrasonic cleaner with distilled water and dawn soap. Not happy with the results. The half I have had in a solution of ammonia for about 30 minutes total, and it seemed to help some. Looking for some guidance, and is this horn silver? I'm not trying to make them shiny, just remove the white. It looks like they were painted with flat white chalky paint. The chalky part doesn't show up in the pics very well
Thanks
