Howdy to you guys and gals over on this thread..

I've found a few buttons here in Michigan that I can confirm are veteran bring-back true civil war era uniform stuff.. They are on a top shelf in my display along with my civil war tokens.

Today I found this at an old 1800's farmhouse. It has a wonderful eagle on the front and is a two piece, but the only backmark seems to be stars. I have not yet done any research to determine if there was a CW veteran who lived here.

I don't know if I can really say if it is military or a nice copy (I have a late 1800's Sears catalogue copy that advertises eagle buttons for sale that have the civil war era eagle..)

Thoughts?

Your button is a general service button. They were the type worn by soldiers during the civil war. The button was used for enlisted me until 1876, when a slightly different eagle was used thru 1902.
