Yes, I've seen that one, and his advice is spot-on. I wish I'd seen it before I tried to clean a couple large cents.

Pretty good video. Great showing what methods will ruin a coin that should not be done.

I personally would not clean a potentially rare/expensive coin with any method that used rubbing..Even with that tooth pic, you are in effect sanding/scratching the surface albeit on a very fine scale...

I am in no way qualified to suggest "better" methods, but I think the moral of the a story is that if you suspect you have something special, you should take professional advice before doing anything that could cause irreversible damage...
