Hey all, got out yesterday with my buddy and we hit a bank on the Ohio River. After a few months of detecting, my friend finally found his first silver: a mercury dime, along with a few musket balls. I made my best find since my trade dollar. It's my first seated coin and my oldest silver coin. 1856-O seated Liberty quarter. The river has taken a toll on it but Im ecstatic! I also found this buckle. Does anybody have any idea what type of buckle and any approximate age? It measures about 1.875"x 1.50". We only hit a small portion of the bank so we are anxious to get back out there! HH

Two nice finds!

It's an old horse harness strap buckle. It's hard to put exact date on horse tack but it's probably mid to late 1800's.
