The 40s sounds right. This afternoon I found a company site that said Revlon didn't market lipstick until 1939. Thanks Mikey

To start with Revlon was founded March 1, 1932.

I was surprised the company wasn't older. This site gives a nice concise timeline. 1932 for the company that duggap noted and 39 for the lipstick introduction. https://www.revloninc.com/our-company/our-history.php
