Yes, a find of a lifetime! And that diamond retains its original, uncut shape. What is showing is part of an octahedral stone, typical natural crystal form for many uncut diamonds.

Sorry, you'll have to go to Europe, no midieval stuff in the US. 
It's especially interesting that they were able to pinpoint the historical person for whom it was most likely created.
