Had a kid offer me two Morgan silver dollars today for $30. Both were 1921. They were in plastic display sleeves. Looked to be in good shape. What kind of value?

Maybe 20 bucks a piece. I don't think the 1921s were circulated much. They usually look good. 30 bucks for two is a good deal in my opinion.

Very true about the fakes. Chinese copies look good. One of these is fake. Hard to tell without weighing them.

Melt value is $12, so if genuine coin you are paying 15 x face, when you can buy junk 90% for about 11 x face if you try hard enough. Regardless, it’s a silver dollar, so it normally carries a premium over melt.

I was paying $15 ea. for Decent Morgans ten years ago, so their value really has not appreciated over that long term.

Thirty dollars for two common 1921 Morgans is a decent price but considering that a kid offered them to you, I'd be careful. Ask to talk to his parents before you buy.

The one on the left? What’s the fake weigh? Where’d the fake come from? Curious.

The one on the left is genuine. My scale is not very good and rounds to the gram, but easily reveals the fake. I found the fake at my grandpa's house. He thinks he may have bought it in Mexico.

They are even faking those in silver, cheap enough to use the correct material, especially on smaller denomination coins...
