Default civil war site find

found this piece of lead. looks like a small cast ingot of lead.

was found at a major civil war battle camp site north of Atlanta.

But of course I have no idea of the date or ID of this item.

Any ideas?

I think you guys might be right. At least a broken piece of a civil war era pencil that they made out of bullets.

Had it been longer, I think it would have fit in a hand somewhat comfortably. You certainly don't have to worry about the point breaking and keeping it sharp with a knife would be easy.

Based on your first picture, I'd say that was a Lincoln cent. And no: USA Lincoln cents are not made out of lead. They are made out of copper.

Any other questions ?
