I went out yesterday during our brief heat spell and hit a park I've pounded for almost a decade now. There isn't much to find there except hidden in the most trashy areas. I didn't even dig many targets and this came in very choppy on the CTX. Imagine the sort of signal you would usually hear when you dig a nail. Instead I got this 1898 Canadian dime! Super happy to get silver on my first trip out in 2017!

Nice dime!!! I somehow have not found a silver Canadian dime, but have found multiple Canadian large cents... that's a barber in American coinage nice pull!

Nice save!
If I remember correctly, those are tiny:yes:

You are thinking of the fish scale or 5¢ silver coin. The Canadian dime is the same size as our dime. However there is a difference.

Canadian dimes before 1920 were .925 or sterling silver. Our dimes have always been .900 or coin silver.

Nice find.
