KT picked up the 2 boxes of halves this afternoon and spent a pleasant 2.5 hours ripping rolls and hunting halves! Two goodies showed up in Box 1...Box 2 was a blank.

KT recovered 1 1942 Walker in decent shape. Fascinating to KT to realize this coin was minted during the 2nd year of WWII ! No telling where it has been.:?:

Then there also showed a 1968 40% Ag Ken! Spent the rest of the hunt, ripping through rolls until they were all gone.

But at the least, KT has two new additions to the Royal Horde!:D:D

Enjoy the pics! And best of luck to everyone in their efforts this coming week!:yes:

That Walker sure is pretty KT, and yeah, ponder that time/era, sure makes one think a bit. Congrats on the silvers!

Royal Thanks, Groundsweeper! For some reason, KT just likes Walkers minted during the War II years…just thinking about all the difficulties people went through, yet the government continued minting uninterrupted. :D

Congrats on the silver! Love that Walker!

me thinketh that other than the St. Gaudens design, that this design is the nicest of all American coins. No wonder it was “copied” for the newest silver dollars presently being minted!

Congrats on the walker and 40 %er KT!

Royal Thanks, kaufenanger! Was happy that the 40%er showed up too! KT failed to mention in the original write up, but in Box 1, there were no NIFCs, but in box 2, there were a half dozen 2021 and a couple of others.

An interesting story, kaufenanger! So technically, we cannot consider halves minted in 2021 as NIFCs. I wonder what the mintage numbers will be? Around 2 million as with NIFCs or 1987 or significantly higher. It seems to KT that few of the public are interested in weighing down their pockets with these heavier halves! More logically KT would have thought that the Fed would have decided to phase out the half dollar since few if any coin machines handle them. Maybe they are one of the few coins that have a face value higher than mintage cost, but who knows? :?:
