Looking at getting into the hobby. Wife and kid show interest too.

We are looking at getting Fisher F-22s. Wife needs a lightweight detector.

What are your thoughts and /or recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

You might also consider the Minelab Vanquish 340. Has multifrequency and is about $20 cheaper. It lacks a pinpoint feature though.

The Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300 seems to have most of the Fishers' features and is $100 less.

Why not apply the law of averages and get one of each?!

Welcome from Winnsboro, South Carolina !!!!

......would help members to offer suggestions if they know your preferred price range and if you all will be detecting only on dry land or also in the water.

Welcome. I would say do some research and look here for conversations about other users experiences with detectors. Much will depend on your budget also. Good luck

Thanks for all the responses, great community!

Price point is 2-3 hundred per unit. Reading different reviews, the consensus seems to be F-22 for the best entry level unit. Bonus is the warranty at 5 years and it’s light weight. Wifey has MS and her arm strength is diminished.

Mainly terrestrial hunting, no scuba for me.

Thanks again all !

Welcome to the Friendly Forum, and the hobby. The F-22 will do you just fine. There are many posts on several MD forums of members using the earlier F2, and doing VERY well. You don't need to spend more, to have more fun. Good luck, and come back often.
