13 inch coil on old houses

So guys sometimes I like to use my 13 inch coil on old houses 1910 etc era. Any thoughts is is it better with a smaller dd coil say stock size. My concerns are masking

I guess it depends on how many metal objects are in the yard, and how much digging you are willing to do. If it's quite littered, like many of them are, I would use a small coil, and pick out all the coin signals I could. If you have plenty of digging time and energy, then use the big coil, and dig the stronger signals first, even if they are junk, trying to unmask whatever else is around.
Also, if the yard is not too littered, I would use the big coil because it can scan deeper.
