Everyone in her household is ok. They were under their desks at work. The house is another story... any members in Alaska?

I hope everyone there is OK. I would really be afraid to be in Lituya Bay during an earthquake, but I see that Anchorage is quite some distance from there. Lituya bay had a 1700+ foot tsunami after an earthquake in 1958.

I hope she is safe, and prepared for aftershocks.

That's terrible! I'm sorry to hear about this. What a blessing, though, that no one was injured! If you can, please let your sister know I'm praying for her and her family.

It was pretty scary down here on the peninsula but nothing like the Anchorage area

Wow praying for all! Glad they are ok!

Wow, very glad they are okay, but they still need to watch out for aftershocks.

Did a forum search, there is a small group for Alaska -

Were are glad they are OK..

Things in the house can be replaced. People can not..

KEN :D

Thanks for the thoughts. Everyone's OK. The house is most likely a total loss due to major foundation damage, but they are insured. (I won't mention what the deductible is.....)
Merry Christmas everyone.
