I'm having a hard time finding replacement equinox coil plugs. This is the end that screws into the back of the control unit. I'm working on a waterproof box system for the nox, and the stock coil cables plug is too big to fit in the box. I saw these that Jeff in Georgia posted on another forum a few years back: Screenshot_20220215-072841_Chrome.jpg
I have sent Jeff a PM, but looks like he hasnt been active on the forum since last November. I cant seem to find anything anywhere close online. A 90° would be even better. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! Thanks in advance!!!

Updates on progress can be found here:

I'll shoot OBN a PM shortly, good suggestion for sure. Plenty of headphone plugs around of course, including 90°, cant find a single coil plug replacement though.

The one pictured is not a Nox plug, (I don't think) It is a M-12 8 pin Code A ..CTX head phone fitting. Do you have a picture of the stock nox coil fitting. The one you need... I need to see the size and pins, and pin orientation.

If that is the one you need ..here is the link..

If it is a M-12 8 pin code A this would be the 90 you use..

Thanks for getting back to me, I found that photo on another forum, posted by Jeff in Georgia. I've tried contacting him, but no luck so far. This is what the equinox plug looks like:

Unfortunately this exact plug is too large to fit in the waterproof housing, so that is why I was trying to find a 90°. I'll be using 2 small cable clams as well. They could be the same, I'm not sure on that honestly. I'll look into it further. Really appreciate your help!

Found the 90

Just get me a picture of the fitting next to a coin so I can confirm, the size..m-8 or m-12

I unfortunately dont have my detector nearby, I'm currently running errands, but this might answer the question?

This was posted by Steve Herschbach on another forum. Sounds like it's an m-12 possibly? Not sure if he is referring to the headphones or the coil...That 90° would probably be perfect.
I'll take some more pictures when I get home to confirm. Appreciate it!

M-8

Thank you for the pictures..so your 90 would be

PXPPVC08RAF08ACL010PVC

And remember it is not just a fitting but has a 1 meter cord on it. So you would have to splice it to the end of the cable like the guy did over on Steve's forum. Post us a finished picture.

just noticed its not in stock till 4/15

Thanks again for getting back to me. The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking I should go with an adapter of sorts. Female end goes into the equinox and then have a Male end for the coil cable. That way I won't have to cut and solder anything. I found this online, now that I have an idea what it is I'm looking for:

To me it seems like it checks all the boxes I need, but I'm a complete newbie when it comes to this stuff. I know very basic electronics. I'm probably overlooking something  Your thoughts would be welcomed and appreciated! I will absolutely post pics, include links for parts, and make a thread once it is completed. This mod will nullify the warranty, though my warranty is already expired, so I'm personally not too concerned.

I'll be curious to see what you're putting together as well. I never dunk tested my Equinox before warranty expired now I'm leery of dunking it at all.

to OBN:
I notice some of these connectors are IP67 and some are IP68...is IP67 "good enough"? Looks like IP68 is better for continuous submersion, but even it only had to pass a 30 minute test to get the rating. Curious what's really needed for A) splashing/dunking while wading in the water vs B) actual continuous submersion if one were scuba diving. Thanks!

So I ended up buying this cable in the post above, it arrived yesterday. Unfortunately it is too small, I'm thinking the equinox uses m12 connectors instead of m8. Length was perfect too. I should have emailed them beforehand and explained exactly what I was looking for. I could not find an exact match to what I need. Most of them are too long, or arent available in 8 position. I have reached out to 2-3 different companies to see if they could make one for me. If there is no help there, I will bring it into work and talk to some professor's about it, they might even have the connections here. I also purchased a more rugged (but smaller) waterproof box, wont be here for a week or two though. So this project will take a little longer than anticipated  Will update this thread accordingly, thanks again for all your help friendly!

Hope you find one. It is a shame we have to construct a water proof box to get our waterproof equinox to be water proof. Same probably goes for my new CTX3030 from older posts I have read.

Thank you maxxkatt! I have heard back from one company on the part I need. Unfortunately, both options that would work are out of stock  if I didnt plan on using it for diving, I'd be okay. I've waded in waist to chest deep with the nox, no issues. It's being underwater for roughly 2 hours I'm concerned about  it has been a fun little project to do while I hibernate as well  I cant say I've seen many modded nox's out there either, so some will hopefully learn from my errors

Had my Nox for 3 years. Took it lake hunting with a water proof audio cable to my headphones and was in waist to chest deep lake water 3 times. No problem. The went hunting in the river just in ankle to knee deep water and laid the nox in the water not more than 12" deep and when got home had water in the display. It was under warranty and Minelab sent me a new control box.

From that point on I never trusted the nox. Now I have a brand new CTX3030 and don't trust it either to get the control box wet. Will just stay in knee deep water at the lake.

Hope you find the connector. Minelab does not sell them?

I use a website called digikey.com. they have everything you could ever need. The hardest part is finding the parts on their site.

Or a different idea for you. I have an 11 inch equinox coil that my dog chewed the wire of close to the coil. Not sure if that would be of any help. But have in case you need
