Default Any ideas?

Found in a hay field that was once an 1800's homestead.

Size looks too large for a bracelet, but right for a belt.

From the year of the possible homestead it could be a buckle but not necessarily a belt buckle, it could be a buckle from a horse harness. And it does look more like a horse harness buckle to me.
