Just a couple of thoughts on that...using the detector without headphones makes for a better TV experience as the viewers can hear the tones ect...
However with that said, I have never seen Drayton carrying out what I would term "serious detecting" on the show...He may well do so off camera but I have a feeling all the stuff we see is scripted and staged..

How about a narrator that repeats everything they say in a cool narrator type voice? “ An old ox shoe found near the stone pathway???” That would be cool to have for a little bit but would get annoying after awhile.

That guy narrates "Ancient Aliens"- He was annoying from day one.
Is that a picture of the boys on Oak Island planting a find to be recovered at a later date?
