Just wanted to share this since I haven't seen anything like it discussed. But I got a pair of waterproof pants that fit over my jeans. Was tired of wet, muddy knees all the time and my wife didn't like the muddy laundry days. 
After spending a couple hours in a corn field with clods of mud sticking to my boots to make them weigh 5 lbs heavier, I was really glad I had the pants and could just slip them off before getting in the car to leave. They are also great after a rain.
