The era of brick & mortar clubs has been in continuous decline, ever since the late 1990s. When the internet got more and more ingrained in culture (forums, FB, social media, blogs, etc....), then people stopped getting off their #sses to attend 1x per month meetings.
They/we now get our socializing from the comfort of our living room. Eg.: show & tell, tech-talk, meeting up with other locals, object IDs, etc.... Clubs only exist in the largest cities these days. And even then-so, with declining membership. The internet made us all lazy.
